Remnants of the Overlords (RWBY x Overlord male reader)

Chapter 19

The terrorist attack on Beacon has shook Remnant to it's core. All around the globe people lit candles in honor of the dead and injured. The parents of Beacons students are faced with the choice of pulling their children out of school for their safety.

The parents doubts forced Ozpin to make a public promise to keep the remaining student safe. In the eyes of Y/n all of what Ozpin said were simple empty promises. No matter how much the old man may try he has no idea what truely happened, no idea who caused it to happen and no idea how to prevent it from happening again.

But the school year had to go on and so after a two week break to allow the students some time to recover and for those leaving to do so, the remaining students had gathered in the audiotorium.

The speech Ozpin had prepared only left Y/n confused, why would someone even attempt to try taking away art from their people? How stupid must one be to even think that was possible. There always will be art. Be it through paintings, statues, buildings, sculptures, poetry, songs, plays or tales. To banish all art is to banish all. Even in nature there is art.

After the speech had ended the students were told to sign up for missions all around the kingdom of Vale. So Y/n and Narberal went to one of the displays and looked through the available missions. As second year students they had a far bigger list to choose from then the first years, something Y/n found out due to Ruby complaing right next to him that the mission she wished to choose was not available for first years.

Luckily for the girl Ozpin was nearby.

Ozpin: "I see you are seeking a challange?" The man asked a bit too ominous for Y/ns liking.

Ruby: "What? Oh eh yeah." Ruby answered unsure.

Ozpin: "The rules are clear, no team of first years is allowed to go on this mission." The girls all looked deflated. "But how about we bend them a bit? Mister Deamon have your team decided on a mission yet?"

Y/n: "No sir." Y/n answered not really liking where this was going. Ozpin typed something on his tablet and the screen showed that teams DN and RWBY had been assigned the securing of one of the sectors of Mount Glenn.

Ozpin: "Team RWBY, stay close to your teacher and team DN, should they deem your skills lacking they will be allowed to send you back to Beacon at once and deem your mission as failed. Do not break this trust I am putting in you."

Ruby: "Of course Sir!"

Yang: "Yeah go team RWBY!" The sisters cheered. Ozpin then turned to Y/n.

Ozpin: "Mister Deamon, make sure to bring team RWBY back as unharmed as possible."

Y/n: "I will do my best." With that said Ozpin left. "Our mission will begin early in the morning tomorrow, so make sure you are prepared and well rested." Not waiting for an answer Y/n left with Narberal following. "Narberal have the Shadows found anything interesting in the school?"

Narberal: "Yes my Lord." Y/n nodded and opened a Gate to Nazarick. There he sat down on his throne and signalled Narberal to continue. "Below the school there seems to be a rather sizable hall, it is mostly empty except a strange maschine harboring an unresponsive girl. It seems like the maschine is keeping the girl alive, the reason for her condition is unknown as of yet." Y/n leaned his head on one of hands and began to think this new information over. Why would Ozpin hide the girl below the school? Why not bring her to a hospital or better yet Atlas? The kingdom of Atlas is currently the leader then it comes to maschinery of all kinds, so why not bring the girl there for better life support or even potential cure?

Then it clicked. The girl was the true Fall Maiden, the girl Cinder attacked hand stole half of the maiden powers from. Ofcourse Ozpin can't bring the girl to a hospital they would just ask unwanted questions.

Y/n: "The Shadows are to dispatch of the girl at once!" Y/n ordered. Opening a call with Cocytus Y/n spoke: "Bring the girl and Cinder to me."

Cocytus: "Yes my lord."

Y/n: "Albedo." The succubus looked at her master in joy. "Get ready to force the girls face into Cinders mind and kill her right after. Lets hope you did not fail in changing our candidats mind." Albedo was sweating in fear from the thought of what might happen if she did fail.

Moments later both Cinder and the future Fall Maiden walked in, much to Y/ns surprise it was the older lizard girl he had saved back when he arrived in Remnant, Lavendel.

Lavendel: "It is my pleasure to finally be able to repay my debt to you my Lord." The girl said and bowed. Cinder did not fair as well. She was covered in wounds and scars, most of her fingers and toes are gone and even one of her eyes had been carved out. Neuronist must have had her fun with Cinder.

Y/n: "Begin." Albedo placed one hand on Cinders head and a pink light began to envelope the girls head. Moments later strange orbs of orange light came out of the roof and flew right into Cinder, who began to chuckle darkly.

Cinder: "Fool..." She said weakly, looking up at Y/n in defiance. "I... will... ki-" She was interrupted by Albedo twisting her head around a full rotation. The same orange orbs appeared as Cinder turned to dust. Lavendel soon was surrounded by the orbs until they all swarmed into her.

Y/n: "How do you feel Lavendel?" Y/n asked.

Lavendel: "Strange... Filled with warmth and... stronger." The girl answered.

Y/n: "Very well. Albedo make sure Lavendel is trained in controlling her new powers. Make sure her every wish is fullfilled." Then he turned towards the girl once more. "I hope this goes without saying but whatever happens here is not to be revealed. Not even to your sister."

Lavendel: "As you command my lord."

Y/n: "You may leave. Narberal and I have to prepare for a mission." The smile on the overlords face brought a shiver down everyone spines. "Oh and someone please take out the trash." He meant Cinder as he dismissivly motioned towards the girls corpse. "Feed her to Kyouhukou and his children."
