July 7th Davenport House (Maddie's POV)-
"Please don't embarrass me. I haven't seen them since you got here." Alex was about to meet the Davenports. They were like my family and for whatever reason I wanted him to meet them. I'm starting to regret that.
"Relax munchkin, we'll be fine." He ruffled my hair and I smacked his hand away. It hadn't taken us long to fall into a brother sister relationship. After one night of pizza and videogames we quickly found our groove.
"You really have to call me munchkin?" I asked dryly.
"Well Maddie when you get to my age, you'll be able to understand." He teased. As we made it to the door.
"That's a load of crap." I pulled out my key. Davenport had given me one so I'd stop breaking into the lab.
The two of us walked in to find Leo on the couch playing video games. Whenever he was focused like this he'd never notice anything happening around him.
"Watch this." I stepped behind Leo just as he was about to complete the level. "Prepare to die." I hissed.
"AHHH!!!" He shot off the couch. "What is wrong with you?!" He asked as I had fallen over in a fit of giggles.
"Nice one munchkin." Alex helped me off the floor giving me a fist bump.
"What's wrong? Oh it's just Maddie." Davenport realized as he ran in. "And you must be her brother."
"Yes sir. Nice to meet you, I'm Alex." he waved. Davenport was soon followed by Bree and Chase.
"Is everything okay?" Bree asked as she rushed in, not really rushing for her but as fast as a normal person could run.
"Yeah, Leo is just really easy to scare." He glared at my statement quickly fighting back.
"I'm sorry this evil-minded harpy has decided to threaten me without me even knowing she was here." I ignored him moving on with introductions.
"Alex, meet Leo and Bree. You already met Chase." I explained pointing out each person.
"You have the same blood as her, so I don't know how I feel about you yet." Leo said suspiciously.
"What are you talking about? You love me." Leo and I had grown closer ever since I lost my powers, he understood what it felt like to feel useless when surrounded by heroes.
"The line between love and hate is very thin." He answered.
"And I walk it expertly." I moved over to Chase giving him a kiss on the cheek and sitting down on the barstool.
"So, Alex what do you like to do for fun?" Bree looked a bit uncomfortable but also excited.
"Uh, I played soccer at my old school but I don't know if I'll be continuing that here." We had talked about it a bit but he wouldn't be starting school for another week so he wasn't sure yet.
Adam soon entered the room wearing a ten gallon hat. "Hey guys guess what I found?"
"A big hat?" Bree answered.
"No. I found an old wig. Someone just left it at the end of their driveway." He pulled out an old ratty wig that was covered in bugs. With one very large spider.
I was terrified of spiders ever since I was a little kid. My parents would take my to the playground and there was this little boy who loved to bother me. One day he told me a story about the old out cove of rocks at the edge of the playground. How it was filled with spiders that could eat kids alive. He dared me to go inside but I wouldn't. It took him calling me a chicken and mocking me for a few minutes before I gave in.
