May 29th Mission Creek High School (Maddie's POV)-
"Are you sure you're okay?" Chase asked once again. I had gotten the stomach flu and was stuck at home for a few days. We spent the last class period with him catching me up on the things I missed.
"Yes I'm fine." I gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Clearly I can't get sick cause everything seems to fall apart without me." I said as we were leaving our class.
"We don't fall apart without you." He said offended.
"Really? Leo managed to destroy my cyber security system, you three almost got caught by Perry, and you guys made a new friend that Leo doesn't trust at all." I explained. Adam, Bree, and Leo came down the stairs meeting us.
"Hey guys. How was class?" I asked.
"Great!" Adam exclaimed. "I love history class! Someone is always leaving me a little piece of gum stuck under my desk."
"Adam, please tell me you didn't." Chase pleaded, Adam popped a bubblegum bubble. "Mm-hmm." He hummed disgusted.
"He did. He totally did." Bree added.
"Yeah. Please never leave us." Chase said to me, agreeing with my earlier point.
"Oh. Guys, don't look now, but here comes that guy none of us like. Marcus." Leo warned. We all turned to see the new kid.
"M-dog!" Adam, Bree, and Chase cheered.
"Hey! You must be Maddie, I'm Marcus." He said turning to me.
"Yep that's me." I offered him a hand. He took it. I was stunned when I couldn't feel a pulse.
"I've heard a bit about you from these guys but they didn't do your justice for your beauty." He smiled. Something about him was creeping me out.
"Wait. Hold the phone. Hold the phone, hold the freaky-deaky phone. "M-dog"?" Leo asked.
"Yeah. Bro's call each other by nicknames." Chase explained.
"Well, I'm your actual bro and you don't call me by a nickname." Leo whined.
"Actually, we do. We just choose not to do it in your presence. Mr. Tiny McLittlestein." We all laughed as Adam revealed our nickname for Leo.
"Hey, Marcus, what are you up to this weekend?" Chase asked.
"Ah, my dad's out of town so I'll be stuck home alone with my grandma." He explained.
"Aha! You said your grandma was dead." Leo said.
"The other grandma. But thanks for reminding me. I wish I could stay with you guys for the weekend." Marcus Said voice laced with dread.
"And I wish you weren't a spastic sociopath with abandonment issues." Leo was laying it on a bit thick but he did kind of have a point. Adam, Bree, and Chase shouldn't be so quick to trust him.
"Leo, give it a rest." Chase said chastising Leo.
"Chase, none of us are safe until the FBI responds to my request for a background check on this 'M-dog.'" Leo explained.
"Look, Marcus, I'm sure you can stay with us. I'll just check with Mr. Davenport." Chase said, slipping up.
"You call your dad 'Mr. Davenport'?" Marcus asked.
"Uh, No. Pssh. No. But you do, and I wanted to make sure you knew who I was talking about." He tried, idiot, I hit him over the head for the dumb cover.
"Okay. Cool. Thanks, guys." Marcus said, leaving us as the bell rang.
"Maddie, watch out!" Chase called. I turned back to be faced with football coming straight for me when it suddenly turned mid air flying away from me.
