May 8th Davenport house (Maddie's POV)-
"Leo, I know you want to be a superhero, but that's the worst costume ever." Adam teased as we entered the living room. I sat down at the kitchen bar working on the design for the new Davenport phones. Ever since our encounter with time travel he has been trusting me with more projects.
"I was cleaning the bathroom, so I could get some money to see my favorite movie. But someone who shall remain nameless..." he looked at Tasha "won't let me go." He continued.
"Wait a minute. You get paid money just for cleaning stuff?" Chase asked.
"Oh, yeah. Most kids have chores. You clean things around the house, and then you get an allowance from your parents." Tasha explained.
"I want chores!" Bree said.
"I want money!" Chase gushed.
"Oh, I want a big furry hat so I can wear it to scare animals!" Adam added.
"You guys can finish my chores. There's no reason for me to have money since Miss Bank-Manager put a freeze on my fun account!" Leo exclaimed going to the Lab.
"So, where should we start?" Bree asked.
"Just look around the house and see what needs to be cleaned." Tasha said before walking out.
"I got this." Adam lifted the couch and dumped out everything that was tucked inside. "Oh! That's where I left my lucky floss!" Adam said excitedly.
"If you use that, I will hurl." I said, turning from my work.
"And then I will clean up that hurl. Ka-ching!" Adam cheered.
They sped around the room cleaning everything that they could find messy. I watched them using their bionics to move much faster than anyone else could. They moved to the kitchen working around me. Chase stopped, giving me a kiss on the cheek then continuing to wipe around me.
"Perfect!" Bree said standing up after waxing the floor. "You could eat off of this floor." Bree bragged.
"Could? Can and will." Adam said.
"Wow. You guys just did a day's worth of chores in three minutes. You know, if this whole mission thing doesn't work out, I can buy a minivan, and we can open up a cleaning service. Here you go." Tasha gushed handing them their wages.
"Oh, mama just got a new pair of shoes!" Bree said.
"I am now worth seven dollars." Chase gushed.
"I wish I knew how to count." Adam mused.
"Just make sure you all spend your money responsibly." Tasha warned.
May 12th Davenport House (Chase's POV)-
"Oh! Hey, guys! I got my new spray-on jeans!" Adam rushed in without pants and holding a small package.
"How is that responsible spending?" I asked.
"27 pairs in one can. That's one for every day of the month." Adam said excitedly.
"I'm gonna leave you to deal with all this," Maddie said, gesturing to the three of us, "I'll be in the lab if you need me." She patted me on the shoulder.
. . .
"Hey, guys. The neighbors are selling their stuff in the front yard. I spent my last five bucks on this whole basket of used socks!" Adam said entering the house with a laundry basket full of socks.
"You don't even wear socks." I said.
"Hello? Sock puppets." He explained.
"Well, I spent my chore money starting my hideous babies collection-- There's Lip-Sore Lizzy, Pink-Eye Peggy, and limited edition Triple-Chin Chuck." Bree listed.
