I could hear voices around me. They were too loud and I was getting a headache. I moaned at them to go away but they just got louder. I finally opened my eyes and saw my Uncle Bruce, Tony, Thor and Fury hovering over me, their eyes were on my face.
“Adalynn” Uncle Bruce asked, “Adalynn, can you hear me?” I sighed in irritation.
“Yes I hear you and your too loud.” I grumbled at him. His cheeks tinted pink.
“What happened Love?” Thor brushed my hair away from my eyes. I looked at him and then sat up. My head spun but I ignored it as I looked to Fury.
“I know part of Danyella’s plan, or at least the plan of her employer.” I told him seriously. I explained to him what had been said and what had happened when the picture fell on my head.
When I was done everyone looked at me in shock.
“They used you as an experiment subject and left you in a burning building to see if it would work.” Uncle Bruce’s voice had gone so quiet that I could barely hear it. He was shaking violently and from his watch’s erratic beeping his heart rate was going up fast.
“Banner” Fury warned. My Uncle turned and left the room abruptly. It was then that I noticed we were on the helicarrier and I was hooked up to an IV. I winced at the sight of a needle in my arm.
“Was the needle really necessary?” I wined at the room in general. Fury raised an eye brow at me, telling me that my attitude was not amusing.
“You have been out for three days Adalynn.” Tony explained from the seat he had taken in the corner of the room. My eyes widened. I still hadn’t told them about the immortal part.
I had kept that to myself. I knew Uncle Bruce would be mad. I didn’t know how everyone else would take it. I was worried that Thor wouldn’t want me anymore when he was faced with eternity. I knew that I would have to tell them sooner or later, but not just yet.
The next day they let me leave the sick bay and go to my own room. I spent a lot of time sleeping. I knew everyone was worried, but I couldn’t help it. I wasn’t ready to face up to them. They all knew I had left something out and spent a lot of time trying to pry it out of me. I was stubborn and said nothing.
More and more weeks went by and I sunk into a deeper depression. I wore dirty grungy clothes all the time. Large holy t-shirts and sweat pants.
Thor got so frustrated with me, he left. He said he couldn’t understand me anymore and it has killing him from the inside out. He went to Asgard with no word of when or if he would return.
I spent a lot of time up on the flight deck. I knew Fury and Uncle Bruce didn’t trust me, because there was always someone watching me if I wasn’t in my room. I don’t know why they bothered. It wasn’t like I could kill myself or anything. My body would heal itself and I would go on living.
One day I woke up and it was over. I decided it was time to get over it and move on. I still hadn’t taken Thor’s necklace off and I decided I never would. I would keep it as a reminder that nothing lasts forever, only me.
It was six in the morning. I got up and took a shower. I dressed in an electric blue sun dress and a pair of strappy silver heals. I pulled my hair up into a ponytail high on my head and applied some makeup to my face.
I left my room and got something to eat in the cafeteria. I waited until I knew The Avengers were in a meeting in the main meeting room. I had no idea what they called it, I just called it the meeting room. I left the cafeteria and went to my destination. I knew that someone was probably sitting outside my room right now, waiting to follow me if I left the room. I snickered, wondering how long it would take them to figure out that I wasn’t in there.
