Sliding into the room quietly, so I wouldn’t be noticed just yet, I looked around. Everyone was there, everyone except Thor. That was good. I wasn’t ready to see him just yet. I positioned myself behind Steve and listened.
“There was an explosion at the St. Mary’s Hospital in D.C. late last night. We suspect Danyella had something to do with it.” Fury addressed The Avengers. “We do not know what her plan is exactly but dead bodies have been popping up all over the east coast. There is nothing physically wrong with them. It looks like their hearts just stopped. We need to contain this before there are more casualties. We need to find Danyella.”
I stepped out from behind Steve.
“You won’t find her that easily.” I said, “She is far too smart for that. If you want her you are going to have to wait and surprise her.” I looked at their shocked faces as they looked me over. I walked over to an empty chair next to my Uncle. It was directly in front of Fury and I sat down and looked up at him.
“If you don’t close your mouth, you are going to catch flies.” I informed him, causing Natasha to snicker. Fury looked at me in his condescending way and I narrowed my eyes at him.
“Stop thinking your life is so terribly hard,” I snapped at him, “You should try being me sometime.” I raised my eye brows at him.
I sighed and looked around the room at everyone else.
“Whoever Danyella is working for, they are trying to build an army. This army will be nearly impossible to defeat. The bodies are failed tries. They can’t seem to get the formula right anymore.”
“Well at least it can’t get worse than that.” Tony said in an optimistic tone of voice.
“It gets worse.” I said quickly, looking at Tony seriously. “They will be immortal.” I whispered at the silent room.
“How could you possibly know that Miss. Banner?” Fury asked me in a you-can’t-possibly-know-what-you-know tone of voice. I looked down at my feet. The only sound in the room was the beeping of my Uncle Bruce’s watch as his heart rate sped up.
“Calm down Uncle Bruce,” I turned my chair around to look at him. “It’s done and Hulking out isn’t going to help anything because it can’t be helped.” I put my hand on his arm and his watch stopped beeping.
“I’m going to live forever.” I whispered to him, “I need to come to terms with that.”
“Aww” A sickening voice to my left cooed softly. “Poor Adalynn” It whispered to the room.
I didn’t even hesitate. My fist shot out and I heard the crunch as Danyella’s nose broke. Danyella screamed and tried to disappear, but I had grabbed her by the ear and had my thumb nail digging into her ear. I had her and I grinned at Fury.
“I told you she had to be taken by surprise.” I told him, “I wouldn’t suggest that you put her in a room and leave her though. She is an amazing escape artist.”
Later that day I was sitting on the flight deck. I had a quart of chocolate ice cream that I had plundered from under the cooks noses. I had just opened it up and was digging my spoon in when Uncle Bruce joined me. I knew he was still upset and needed to talk.
I reached into the pocket of my dress and pulled out an extra spoon and handed it to him. He chuckled as I handed him the container. He dug his spoon in deep.
“This isn’t going to fix anything Adalynn.” He told me as he popped his spoon in his mouth. I rolled my eyes at him and leaned over and rested my head on his shoulder.
“I know that” I replied “But it tastes good.” I giggled as he shook his head at me.
“I will be ok Uncle Bruce. I really will. I have had my little pity party and now I am ready to move on.” I smiled up at him as he looked at me in amazement.
“How did I get so lucky as to have such a wise nice?” He asked me. I laughed and threw my arms around him.
“Banner!” Fury’s voice called out over the deck. He sounded mad and I knew exactly why he was mad. I cringed.
“He sounds mad. What did you do?” Uncle Bruce asked me, sounding genuinely concerned. I tried my best to hide behind him as I replied.
“Well the sprayer nozzle in the kitchen may have malfunctioned a bit while I was rescued the ice cream.” I winced as I saw Fury heading towards us. Uncle Bruce blinked once, then threw back his head and laughed. He helped me up.
“Come on” he said still laughing, “Let’s go clean it up.”
