"Sorry, excuse me." I rush out as I battle through the small crowd on the boat towards the railing. People look my way as I make my way past them, but I don't stay still long enough to hear what they say. We have been travelling all day and the waiting has driven me insane. I make it past everyone and stop running when my palms slam against the railing of the boat. A smile hits my lips as I look over the ocean and my stomach fills with excitable butterflies.
Republic City. We are finally here. I am finally in the same place as Bolin.
"Is Bolin already here?" I hear my mother ask. I turn to my side to see her looking over the water, a small smile on her face.
"I'm unsure, mother. He never mentioned when he would get in." I reply and she nods.
We pull into the harbour and I quickly glance at my reflection to make sure I'm not too windswept. My mother had warned me that there may be journalists and photographers when we get off the boat, and I'd rather not have a bad photo of me in circulation. I straighten my princess headpiece slightly and run my fingers through my dark hair before smiling to myself. I'm kind of surprised at how well my hair has stayed in place during this trip.
I take one final look before sighing to myself and smiling. Okay, let's go find Bolin. I make my way off the boat and I immediately join my mother and grandfather's side, and as my mother said, there are many journalists taking photos of us. My grandfather places his hand in between my shoulder blades, and I take that as my cue to begin walking. I've been taught the importance of maintaining the serious exterior when under the eyes of journalists. The last thing we want is for them to use a photo against us and twist the context in a way that loses people's trust in-
"Ulazu!" A voice yells through in the crowd. My head snaps towards the sound and as soon as I do I am met with those emerald eyes I fell in love with four years ago. He stands next to his brother who smiles at me however, nothing can be bigger than the grin on Bolin's face.
"Bolin!" I gasp and run to him. I can feel my mother's annoyed glare on me for breaking my professional exterior, but I don't care. Nothing matters other than being with Bolin. He takes a couple of steps towards me and opens his arms as I jump into them. His hands instantly find my waist and lift me off the ground as I wrap my arms around his neck, holding him tightly. I let out a small laugh when he spins me, but I soon stop laughing as I smash my lips against his. In that moment everything feels complete, as if nothing else matters in the whole world except from our kiss. Our lips move in sync like they always do and that feeling I labelled love three years ago soars around my body without a care in the world.
Bolin's grip on me tightens as he lowers me back to the floor causing our bodies to press against each other, allowing me to feel his racing heart beat in his chest. My hands move to his hairline and I let my fingers get lost within his brown locks as I allow myself to get consumed in this moment. The moment I've been craving for.
"Ulazu." I hear my mothers stern whisper behind us. I immediately break away from the kiss and my eyes widen when I see the photographers standing watching us with their cameras in hand. Oh, I'm in deep trouble, aren't I?
"Stop crowding and leave us at once." My grandfather demands and the photographers immediately nod and apologise before running away. Bolin removes his hands from me and I frown instantly missing the warmth he provides me. I drop my hands from his neck and turn to my mother.
"Mother, I know it was not proper formalities, and I know that-" I begin to justify what I had just done, but I get stopped by my grandfather's laughter.
"Bolin, it's so good to see you!" He laughs as he moves towards Bolin.
"Zuko!" Bolin grins. He lifts his hand up and the two of them break out into their handshake. I sigh and watch them two of them as Mako moves to my side.
