Part forteen // Bonding

A/N: Sorry I haven't updated in a while 😥, if I don't update for a bit just know I'm either busy or just slow, I'm not ever going to abandon this without finishing it. Literally halfway through writing I went to draw a Makoto fan art. I don't even draw 😭

Makoto's POV

I start cleaning up the board game me and Byakuya were playing. I had fun even though I lost by a lot. I don't really mind, Byakuya looked really smug when he beat me, but I could tell he didn't mean it too much. It was cute.

I'm just glad he enjoys spending time with me. Surprised, but glad.

I stop cleaning the game up for a second to look up at Byakuya. He's staring down at me. I feel my face go red, and Byakuya looks away. I do the same and quickly look back down to finish cleaning up, and once I do, I place the lid on the Monopoly box.

"I'll put the box back when I leave tomorrow." Byakuya tells me. Oh yeah! Byakuya is going to stay here all night! I totally forgot. I smile up at Byakuya and look at the time. We still have a while till night, so we decide to get food.

When Byakuya comes back with our dinner, we eat slowly. We talk for a while, and when he leaves to go put our dishes back, I feel lonely even though I know he's only going to be gone for a few minutes.

Byakuya looks to be deep in thought when he enters, but quickly snaps out of it once he sits next to me on the bed.

"The nighttime announcement should play soon." He speaks quietly.

"Yeah..." I feel my face heat up from the awkward silence. We are both tired, and that's probably why we're like this. But still I feel a little embarrassed.

"Koto."

I look up at Byakuya. Our faces closer than I thought they would be.

"That was... fun. I want to do something like that again. I never did anything similar as a kid, and I want you to share more things like that for us to do."

"Yeah, okay. I will..." We fall back into silence, but neither of us attempt to speak. Our faces inch closer together and oh my god are we about to-

*Ding Dong Bing Bong*

"Eek!" I jump, and almost fall off the bed. Byakuya looks like he's about to start laughing at me.

"Idiot." I hear Byakuya mumble, but he smiles slightly while he says it to tell me he's not so serious.

He smiled. He doesn't do that often, he normally smirks, but it's nothing like this. Does he like me, then? He has been acting different lately, nicer, and that smile... and also the fact he almost just kissed me too. Almost. I look down quickly, so he doesn't see my red face.

"W-we should probably get ready to sleep then..." I trail off, my words becoming jumbled from my nerves.

"Yeah." Byakuya responds, and I try to go get ready for bed before I explode, but before I can get up Byakuya puts his hand on the side of my face. He looks over me, especially looking at my lips. His thumb caresses my cheek and after a full minute of this he lets go.

I get up as fast as I can to go get ready for bed.

Byakuya's POV

*Ding Dong Bing bong*

When I wake up my stomach flips, and I'm incredibly confused by the situation I find myself in. I try thinking back to what happened last night that could've gotten me into this predicament. I fully wake up, and remember what caused Makoto to be on the bed next to me.
