(A/N: Sorry if some things are wrong, I haven't been in the Danganrnpa fandom for like two years. It's been a while since I wrote for this fic, so some things may be inconsistent, sorry about that. If you notice anything wrong, please tell me.)

Byakuya's POV

I slowly take a few steps closer to the door in front of me, panic dying down in my stomach, only to be replaced with dread. I slowly lift my fist to the door, and knock three times. Kyoko opens the door a few seconds later and looks at me inquisitively.

"What are you doing here?"

I just push my way inside, and Kyoko doesn't try to stop me.

"Did you leave Makoto alone? You know I'm just going to have to leave and spend the day with him. Why are you inside?" Kyoko closes the door behind her and walks towards me.

"I told Makoto how I feel," I say, and sit down on her bed.

She pauses for a moment and then speaks. "Did it not go well? I know he likes you." She brings up a hand to her chin.

"It's not that. We were both sort of angry and I was yelling when I told him. I gave him the note and left. I just...don't really know what to do."

"Of course." Kyoko sighs.

"I know you think it's stupid, but I don't want to deal with it right now." I cross my arms and plant my feet, making sure Kyoko knows I am not just going to go and apologize just because she asked. I'm too worn out for the day and just want to leave it alone.

"I'm not going to make you leave, you can stay. I think Makoto can handle himself. Just for a little while." She walks over to me, and we both sit down together, much to my surprise.

"Are you alright?" Kyoko asks. I sigh, not really knowing how to answer.

"Yes. I'm fine. What have you been up to lately?" I try changing the subject. I have been so hung up on this thing with Makoto, I haven't really had any breaks. I just want to focus on something else for once. I also haven't learned much about Kyoko, even though we have spent so much time together lately.

"You know, I've just been dealing with you and Makoto," Kyoko says, thinking.

"But what do you do in your free time," I ask, rolling my eyes.

Kyoko looks surprised for a minute, then her face returns to her normal blank expression. "I mean, I've been searching the school for clues. I hung out with a few of the girls. I've been reading a bit in the library. There's not much else to do here."

"I want things to go back to normal soon. I have so much work to do outside that I never got to finish." I sigh.

"You know, I was excited for school to start," Kyoko says.

"You were?" I ask, surprised. I was never excited about school, just the idea of going somewhere so prestigious.

"Yeah. I wanted to see what it would be like, going to a school with a bunch of ultimates." Kyoko smiles. "I never expected I would be here. And you didn't either. I think you just need time off, to not worry about all of this. I've been pressuring you to do it, but now you need to step back. Wait for him to come to you. Focus on something else for a while."

I look at Kyoko. It seems like she can see right through me, and I wonder how she can read my emotions so well while she doesn't seem to have any herself. On the outside, she shows her emotions less than I did before she got me to branch out with Makoto.

"I know. But like you said, there not much to do around here." I cross my arms.

"You know, you could talk to some of the other students," Kyoko suggests.

"I'd rather die."

She laughs. "Well, you better go find something to do," Kyoko says, standing up with a sigh "I'm going to go get Makoto. I'll stay with him for today. I can be with him tomorrow too."

"Thanks," I mumble, getting up too.

We leave the room together, and suddenly I'm left all alone. My shoulders slump with relief. Now that I don't have to worry about confessing and I've talked to Kyoko, I'm not worried about what just happened, and I finally feel at peace for the first time in a while

---------

It's been three days since I talked to Kyoko in her room; she's been keeping watch on Makoto ever since. I was worried she'd make me do it eventually, but to my surprise, she suggested that Makoto go back to his room soon, with no one keeping an eye on him anymore. I agreed since he seemed to be healed pretty well.

I still didn't take Kyoko's advice and spend time with anyone else. I've seen them around while we eat together, but I mostly stayed in the library. I finally got to catch up on some reading, and it was nice to do something relatively normal without having to deal with all of my classmates' stupidity.

I was just sitting down to read another book I found when I heard footsteps behind me.

"Byakuya... Can we talk?"

I turn around, and Makoto stares back at me.
