Breakfast the next morning is a casual affair, and you wander down mid-morning to find Niki and Wilbur enjoying sugary, flaky pastries over a game of cards. You wander through the kitchen, choosing a golden, fluffy pastry with blueberry filling. It's gone within a minute, and you meander down the hallway toward the library.

The mid-morning sunlight is warm, casting amber rectangles from the floor-to-ceiling windows on the plush carpet of the hallway as you walk. You close your eyes, spinning along down the hallway, letting the stress fade out of you. You'll have two weeks until the gala to think about everything: the attacks, the night in the garden, the Maleficts- but for now, you let yourself forget.

Dappled sunlight and soft indoor lighting touch your skin in a pattern as you let yourself wander. You spin, robes flaring about you, and you think about the dance last night. You hold your arms up, imagining the feeling of Techno beside you, and you dance. It's not the same steps, but it's close. You misstep a few times, but it's a nice chance to relive the memory.

As you dance down the hall, eyes closed against the golden light, you spin right into someone. He catches you by the waist as you stumble a bit, and you lean into him subconsciously.

"Oh, sorry," you laugh sheepishly, blinking up at Techno. "Got a little lost in my thoughts, I guess."

"You're fine. Honestly, it's kinda cute that you just keep bumpin' into me."

You flush. "Well, I.."

He smirks at you, and you laugh despite your warm cheeks. You glance down as you do, leaning in towards him, and you feel his chest rumble as he laughs with you. It's nice, and he's comfortably warm. He smells faintly of woodsmoke, and his arm around you fits you perfectly against his side.

"You know, since you like dancing so much, I could always give you lessons," he suggests. You glance up at him to see his cheeks fading to pink. "Since, you know, last night seemed really nice, and you were–"

"That would be wonderful," you interrupt gently. "I would love that, Techno. I could use some lessons if we're going to dance at Puffy's gala."

"Of course." His voice is low, now that you're so close, and you can practically feel his speak more than you can hear him, with how you're leaned against his chest. "Meet me in the den where we had breakfast the other day at eight tonight?"

"Sounds perfect." You simply breathe for a moment, leaning against him. "This...this is nice. I, um. I enjoy spending time with you."

He laces his fingers with yours. "And I enjoy spendin' time with you." he laces his fingers with yours, giving your hand a gentle squeeze. Your hand is small in his, but it's a comforting, safe feeling. "I have to go talk with Philza about something, but... I'll see you in a bit?"

"Of course." You bite the inside of your cheek for a moment, considering, and decide to commit. You tug at his hand in yours, prompting him to lean down a bit, and press a kiss to his cheek. "I'll see you later."

With that, you give his hand one final squeeze before you continue on your way, strolling toward the library once more with a small wave goodbye. He waves back at you before he hesitates then blows a tiny kiss at you.

You're falling for him so hard that it would scare you if he were anyone else. But no, techno could never scare you. He'd never hurt you; he's so protective of anyone he cares about that it warms you to your core– and you're included in that. He cares about you.

The smile on your face isn't even a conscious thought at this point.

The rest of the day passes without issue, a calm flow of reading in a secluded spot in the library, lunch, though Techno is missing and Philza dismisses this with a casual wave and a warm cat-nap with Niki in a secluded corner of the garden. By the time eight o'clock rolls around, you're so calm that you've almost forgotten your nerves- almost.
