Chapter Nine

Applestar

It was very interesting, Applestar thought, that Sunpool, Cinderstorm, and Lightningfeather suddenly seemed to appear in the camp.

Almost like they had a special ability.

Applestar was no fool. She had kept a careful eye on her brother, Cinderstorm, and Sunpool for the past few days. They were fools, and didn't notice. She had quite a few spies within the Clan as well. A patrol here, a cat hidden in the shadows at night...

And they had no idea.

Lightningfeather seemed to be loyal, but Applestar had seen the way her darling brother looked at Cinderstorm. He loved her. And after all, the things cats would do for love extended to beyond the horizons, beyond the sun, beyond the galaxies. She would know: she had felt love so strong, that she was surprised it didn't knock her to the ground.

She had to do something, and fast, to ensure that her power would not be lost. Maybe if she was quick, she could kill a cat, and hide the body on HollyClan territory. Yes, that would work.

Or, an even better idea.

She could simply kill a cat, and get some fur from Sunpool (her nest?) and leave it out in the forest for the Clan to find.

It was a perfect idea. If Sunpool was out of the Clans, then she could proceed with her plan. Lightningfeather and Cinderstrm wouldn't stop her.

Why didn't she just kill Sunpool, then? She asked.

Then she remembered Sunpool's powers and decided against it.

But which cat...

Casting her gaze around the camp, she found a cat, and smiled.

Yes, he would do perfectly.

She began to concoct her plan.
