CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
~~~~~
Lucas's POV - After six months of marriage
Three months ago, I got the biggest shock of my life. Though our marriage life was less than blissful, I was happy that day. I had invited some of my closest business associates for a dinner made by Rhea.
Imagine my terror and shock to find the door of my house ajar and Andrea was nowhere to be seen. "She must die." was written on the wall with red spray paint. I panicked, I called the police first and then called Echo, told her to inform everyone and come here as quick as they could.
I can still remember the salty tears on my face, where I saw a torn part of Rhea's dress that she wore that day on the handle of the back door.
The police arrived within five minutes. Our home, the home we had built together, was sealed. The police asked me about major suspects. I had no idea who could want to hurt Andrea. Then I remembered the day after our marriage. Claire had threatened her if she stayed with me. We had ignored her that day.
I walked up to where my friends were standing and asked them about Claire's whereabouts.
"She said that she has gone to a nearby natural park for a photoshoot and will come back within an hour," Ethan replied.
I looked around me. Mrs Mathew was crying and her husband was trying to console her though he had tears in his eyes. Aiden was making an important phone call.
"Mr Rivera, I think you are right about your assumptions. The photoshoot ended an hour ago and Claire's phone is in an entirely different location. Her phone is showing to be on Aaron's Avenue, Victoria Street. Can you recognise the area?"
"I know the area, but anyone I know doesn't live there. Though there are some secluded cabins ten minutes from there."
"How do you know?"
"My friends and I were planning to make it a getaway house for parties and such, but they weren't good quality so we did not buy them. Claire was with us that day."
"She is our primary suspect for now, but if you remember anything else just inform us."
"I am coming with you to the cabins." The officer sighed but agreed on the condition that I stayed outside and did not interfere with the investigation.
We drove there in the police jeeps. On asking the security, there were a total of ten cabins each encompassed by an area of about an acre.
