I didn't want this. I didn't want to be sucked into a dangerous world like this. I didn't know how deep I can get sucked in from just saving a life. If it wasn't for that man I tried to rescue I don't think I'll be here.
I calmed down a long time ago and started counting the seconds I'm in here for, so far I'm on fourteen thousand and four hundred and eight, just over four hours. The door clicks open and I leap up eager to see Tamir. Is he going to take me back?
I watch how he's in a new suit, he's body looks smaller now that he's shirt isn't gripping his biceps visibly. He un does the button to his suit jacket then pushes both sides back and slide his hands into his pockets.
I drop my eyes not trusting that they won't linger around his body at any given time, I can tell by the silence he's probably watching me closely. "How are you feeling?" He's using a considerate tone with me.
I look down at my palms and notice the giant red stains from banging on the door. "I want to go home."
"And you will." I listen to his foot steps approach me. "Just not now." He stops and I look down at his shiny shoes, the rounds of them glisten at me and I can almost see me reflection. I tug on the sleeve of his suit half I have on and they cover my wounded hands.
Hair is moved out my face and then he cups my chin forcing us to meet eyes. His cuts around his eyebrows and eyes are now healing to the point they're practically invisible, his once cut lip is now scabbed up and on the verge of healing.
"You ever dreamed of being a princess when you were young?" He raises and eyebrows at me, I blink at him confused to the concept of his question. "When I talk to you Halcyon, I expect a reply!" His tone is not to mess with.
"Y-yes, I wanted to be a princess." I nod "Like any other little girl."
"Good." His thumb runs under my eye where tears fell all night until I ran out of them. "What if I told you I can make you a queen? Would you like that?"
"I don't want to be a queen..." My eyes scan his. "I just want to go home."
"And what did I tell you?" He growls.
"That I'll go home." I'm fast to respond. "I'm sorry."
He lets go of my head and I let my head hang catching my breath. He brings back the same chair he sat in yesterday and positions himself in front of me. "I'm not giving you much choice when I say you have to pose as my girlfriend."
I look up at his words, "I'm sorry, you said what?"
"You've seen a little too much to be innocent in the eyes of my men, you no longer are just a coffee shop owner. They see you as the threat that lives like all is well and what you saw yesterday...well that was the last straw.
"Now I won't publicly claim you because that would put you in more danger and I don't want that," he explains "but in these walls, you are my girlfriend. Unless you rather eat a bullet?"
"No!" I shake my head. "But why-why do I have to be your girlfriend?"
"Pretend girlfriend, and because no one can touch you if you're mine."
"I'm not a threat to anyone! You have my word that I won't breath near a living soul if I'm tempted to talk."
"Your word won't satisfy thousands of men." I drop my eyes at his words. Thousands of men? How many people did I upset by just helping a bleeding man out? "Let's get you cleaned up." He's walking back to the door he locked me in yesterday.
He opens it and I stare out into the corridor, I can just about see the walls from where I am. "Come on." He urges and I start to slide off the couch I spent all night on, I watch him reach up to his tie undoing it and then when I stop in front of him he bounds my eyes closed.
"I can't have you running around," his voice rings in my right ear sending chills down my spine. "my men are unpredictable," He's moved to my left ear, "they shoot to kill." I flinch away from his voice slamming into the door.
I listen to him chuckle as I nurse my throbbing eyebrow and then I'm guided with a hand on my lower back, I'm silent but very cautious to our turns and how the echo of our feet turn into soft crunches meaning we're on carpet now.
A door opens and I'm lead inside before it closes making me turn towards it. What just happened? Did he leave me here? Is this a test? "Tamir?" I call out into thin air and listen in for any uneven breathing. Nothing.
Should I take the tie off? What if I see something I'm not supposed to? Who leaves their hostage alone?! I want to scream my lungs dry. What if I take it off and he comes back in and then shoots me for doing so? God the options are endless.
"Tamir?" I try again and the door opens and I'm taking a step back, someone steps in and the with one tug the tie falls. I'm left blinking to adjust to the light, I turn to be faced with his broad chest and I lift my head up. "Sorry." I step back.
"Use this room as you please, when I get back I expect you dressed and showered." I look behind him at the overlapping bedroom, it's ten times the size of the one I have back home. "Understood?"
"Y-yes." I nod and he brushes his shoulder past me leaving, I turn to watch him go. Is he just going to leave me here? Alone?
