Halcyon's POV.

We come to a stop at a restaurant and as soon as Tamir opens the door for me I hold onto his bicep and we walk in together.

We have a reservation under Kim which I think it's safe to assume is his late name. We're led away as I scan the restaurant, everywhere the lights are dim with only lights above tables.

Each table is set up over a marble setting, two chairs each at the others end and we finally come to ours. "We'll bring you your drinks as soon as possible." Our waiter lets us know and Tamir goes around to my seat to pull it out.

I smile to myself at the gesture, he really is trying to make this up to me, I haven't held a door open for myself yet, and now I can't sit without my chair being pulled out for me. "Thank you," the butterflies flap in my stomach.

He sits opposite me and I straighten my posture a little pushing all the soft curls behind me, the dress he picked for me is honestly so beautiful, and long too which I'm so glad. I was kind of worried he'd make me wear something short.

"You make that dress look stunning." He takes his tux off hanging it on the back of his chair.

"Thank you," I giggle dropping my eyes to bracelet. He literally showered me in diamonds tonight. "So you finally settled back into your mafia," as much as the topic scares me, it's still something he loves doing.

"Yes. Nothing really changed, I left Kent here and it's not the first time I've taken these trips, I just had to clean up here and there." I nod not mentioning the fact that I saw Kent more then a few time to be just a coincidence, he must have put him there.

"So when you leave, you put him in charge?" He nods putting his wrapped wrist on the table, he's had that for a while now, I wonder if is actually getting any better. "You seem to like travelling a lot, why don't you actually do it?"

His silence tells me he's not going to answer so I mentally prepare myself to ask a different question, and then he speaks. "I never seem to have time to travel or go abroad for pleasure. Even family vacations seem like a chore."

"Oh," the fact that he answered brings a smile to my face and he gives me a spectacle look.

"Since you're probably going to bombard with questions, I get at least ten passes meaning you can't repeat or rephrase the question-why are you smiling?"

"It's just-I...I didn't think you were actually going to answer." I drop my eyes to his wrist then reach out touching the fabric of it then trail down to his fingertips. "Why would a family vacation seem like a chore?" I pry running my fingers in the gaps of his.

"I can never let my guard down, one second without my attention could lead to my death."

"It can't be that bad." I feel the lines of his palm and his pinky twitches a little.

"It is." I meet his eyes at his words, he's definitely not bluffing. Why would he be in constant danger like that? It makes me question just how many bad things he's really done. Talk about skeletons. "Tell me about you," my cheeks burn, "what were your parents like?"

My parents, gosh that's a subject I haven't touched in years. The waiter comes back buying me some time. "Two mock tails," she puts a triangular glass down for both of us. "I'll be around to refill whenever needed,"

"Thank you," I take the drink, I know damn well I did not order so time must be Tamir's doing, especially since these are mock tails and not the real thing. I take a sip of mine. I know for sure that has no alcohol in it.

"Um my parents," I got back to the question. "They were good people, I used to look up to them a lot. My mother was very transparent, she said what was on her mind and was never ashamed of anything.

"My father was a quite man, he loved his own pace and he had a massive heart. They had everything going for them, my mother ran the shop, my father was becoming a huge businessman." I fidget with our hands a little before meeting his eyes.

"You're just going to stop there?" I laugh at his question. "Come on, that's like that batter of a cake." He references. "You're not even going to bake it?"

"Well this cake is a little burnt, you know, not such a happy ending." I raise both eyebrows then go to sip my drink. "How about you tell me about your parents and I might continue?"

"My mother was an alcoholic and my dad was controlling." He doesn't even hesitate.

"Controlling how?"

"That wasn't part of your deal." He watches me and I just simply shrug itching for an answer. "I'm passing."

"Same." I take more of my mock tail down. I guess that's a touchy subject for the both of us. "The other night, on our date, you seemed to know quite a lot about boxing. You've even made it into..." a death match, "something interesting."

"Yeah, coming into the mafia I was already boxing," he leans in picking his glass up and bring it closer to me, "it was the only thing I actually enjoyed doing." He swaps the glasses giving me his and he takes mine. "Went to a few competitions, won a few, lost a few."

"How long did that last?" I lean in too.

"Five intense years, I had a coach and everything. You have to have a clean past to be in that sort of spotlight so I had to stop, I just train myself now." I nod.

"You ever think about having an assistant?"

"An assistant?" His lips spread.

"Yeah, someone to like hand you towels and fill your water for you, things like that."

"No, I never really thought about it."

"You should consider it," my eyes drop to his lips, "motivation could be really good for you." I watch him lean in some more.

"You think so?" He hovers over my lips and I nod. "I guess seeing you in short shorts is good motivation."

"Who said I wanted the job?" I frown drowning into his eyes.

"I wouldn't want anyone else." He responses and kisses my lips taking my lipstick onto his lips. When he pulls away I take it off his lips a little.
