No perspective, July 30

Julia opened the front door of their house. The house that was way too big for the three of them. It was a dark and cold house.

It didn't always feel this cold. There once was a time it actually felt nice and warm, but that all changed.

Like a light switch

From one day to another

She doesn't know what the thing was that made it all change though.

"I'm home!" she shouted.

No answer

That's weird, she should be home today, Julia thought to herself.

"MOM!" Julia tried again.

Still no answer.

She shrugged it off and walked to the bench, next to the coat rack. she placed her bag on the ground and sat down. She then started untying her shoelaces. One by one. Then she shoved off her shoes. First the right one, then the left one.

Why she did it in that order? No one knows

She grabbed her bag again and stood up. Her bag luckily wasn't that heavy. She walked upstairs and opened the door of her room. She took a deep breath and smelled.

Her room.

The only place in the house that felt like home.

Still not really like home, but it was enough. She didn't need anything else. Well, she sometimes wanted something else. But that was too much to ask for, she thought.

She greeted Yoda with a smile and dropped her bag on her desk. She started undressing herself and changing into sweatpants and a sweater.

What can I say? She was never a girl of dressing fancy

She walked out of her room and skipped down the stairs again. She should call Cassie to come by later. Maybe the house won't feel so empty that way.

She walked over to the kitchen to grab some food.

Today was, how can I put it into words? an exhausting day. She has no idea why.

School sucked. Nothing was really different than other days, but it was not the same either.

She felt like... she felt like she was being stared at the whole time. Like everyone was silently judging her. The way she walked, how her clothes fitted, how her hair looked, how she smiled. Even the way she thought. Not that others could actually hear or see what she was thinking. She just had this feeling they could.

She was just glad to be home.

She opened the fridge, and it was empty?

"really?" she sighed

She closed the fridge and opened the pull-out drawer instead.

"are you joking?" she asked because there was nothing in there.

"fine, we'll do it your way" she huffed, and she walked over to the dining room, where a basket of fruit was placed on the table. She grabbed a just ripe banana. It still had a bit of a green glow, but that was her favourite way to eat a banana; mildly ripe.

She started walking back to the kitchen again. She grabbed a ceramic bowl and a knife. The knife wasn't that sharp, but you could easily cut yourself with it. She peeled the banana open and started cutting it in pieces. After the last piece was in the bowl, she walked over to the sink and placed the knife down.
