Julia's pov, August 29
It must've been around 11 when we drove through the gate of our campsite.
My dad messaged me earlier this evening that he and mom would be home at 10.
What I'm trying to say is that they are here.
I am scared.
I've walked around with my walls down for so long.
Do I just put them back up immediately?
I need time to think about this.
But I'm out of time.
Suddenly, Harry grabbed my hand and squeezed it. I smiled.
Believe me, I know.
Coming closer to the cabin every second.
Not very long now.
There they are.
They were sitting on my porch, drinking wine.
My dad's head turned around and a smile spread up his lips.
My mum on the other hand... she smiled, but there was something different in her eyes. A sadness.
I hadn't noticed that before.
Something I also hadn't noticed before, were the decorations. I mean, yes, I noticed the balloons and decorations on their cabin, but there was a garland, right above my cabin.
A tiny sincere smile tugged up the corners of my mouth.
Did they do this?
My dad stood up and walked over the porch in my direction. I got out of the car and sighed.
Let's start over.
He opened his arms and embraced me in a hug.
"Happy birthday Julia." He said.
"Thanks dad." I smiled.
This could work.
He let me go and I looked at my mom. She was standing next to my dad.
"Congratulations." She stiffly nodded.
She is never very happy on my birthday.
She opened her arms and suggested I could hug her. I wrapped my arms around her and awkwardly hugged her.
mmm. Maybe it's not so easy.
Who am I kidding? I can't just flush 8 years down the drain with one hug. This needs time.
We let go and I saw Harry and my dad shaking hands.
"Harry." He nodded. Not as stiff as my mother, no, but still a bit stiff.
"Congratulations, Liam." Dad said as he shook Liam's hand.
"Can I offer you a piece of cake? We baked it yesterday for Julia and Liam's birthday." Niall said in a serious voice.
Shit.
The air completely shifted.
Niall is never this serious.
"I would like that, yes." My dad answered.
"And for you, Mrs ... Wilson?" Niall asked my mother.
