Y/N: Your name
Warnings: Swearing
[Y/N's POV:]
RING! RING! RING! I groaned at the sound of my alarm. I turned off the alarm and sat up. "Great, it's the first day of school, again." You see, I had just moved back to my hometown from New York. Something about my dad getting a new job or some shit. I went to the bathroom and splashed water on my face. I fixed my hair and threw on some clothes. I didn't really care about first impressions anymore, it drains my energy. I knock on my big brother's door. "Steve! Wake up!" I yelled. No response. I knock on the door harder and try to open it. "Why does he get a lock on his door and I don't?" I huffed.
"WAKE UP!" I yelled even louder. Again, no answer. I kicked the door multiple times and the door finally opened. "Shut up, Y/N. You're being annoying," Steve says. I groan and massage my temples. "God, you act like a child. It's hard to remember that you're the older one. Then again, it's only by a few months," I say. Steve just glared at me. "Anyways, it's the first day of school, Steve. We're gonna be late." My brother's eyes lit up. "Do you think there's gonna be some hot girls?" he asks excitedly. "Stop acting like a man-whore, Steve," I groaned. He just shrugged and started to change.
I shield my eyes with my hand and joke, "Can't you wait until I'm out of here?" Steve probably gave me a glare but I couldn't see it because my hand covered my eyes. "Y/N! Steve! The school bus is here!" my dad called. "Okay!" me and Steve responded from our own rooms. I quickly picked up my bag and took a piece of toast. "Love ya, mom and dad!" I ran to the bus quickly and as I boarded, I saw my brother struggling to get his shoe on. I giggled at him and sat down in the first empty seat I saw. As I sat down, my brother also came in at the same time and sat down near a girl. Probably to flirt with her.
I looked down and played with my sleeve to pass the time. "Excuse me? That's my seat," I heard a voice say. "I didn't see your name on it," I snapped back. "I won't ask again," they growled. "Didn't hear you ask the first time," I smirked. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a yellow girl, a red girl, a green girl, and a blue girl. "Get out of her seat," I heard another voice. I quietly snickered to myself. "Mmm... I don't want to though," I complained. I felt someone grab my face and made me look up. "Look at us when you talk to us," the person growled. I looked at the brown eyes that seemed all too familiar.
"Dukie?" I ask. "Y/N?" she questioned. "Jesus Christ, Duke! You've gotten a lot stronger," I say moving my jaw around with my hand, smirking at her. "Who's this?" the other girls asked. "Y/N used to be my best friend in grade school. She moved and I guess she moved back," Duke explained. "Who are you?" I question. "I'm Heather McNamara, this is Heather Chandler, this is Veronica Sawyer, and you've already met Heather Duke," the yellow girl smiled. "Uh-huh..." I look at each of them. "Is it okay if I call y'all by your last name?" I ask. "Sure," the blue girl- um, I mean Sawyer, said.
"It's been so long!" Duke smiled. "Yep," I said. Don't judge, I didn't know what to say at that moment. We just stood there in awkward silence. Duke sat down next to me and the other girls sat down in the rest of the vacant seats. "So, how's it like being back?" Duke asked me. "It's kinda surreal, seeing my old best friend again. My brother hasn't changed much though," I laughed. She laughed with me and it was then I realized how cute her laugh was. I felt heat spread around my cheeks. God, Y/N! What are you doing? She's your best friend, she wouldn't want to be with you. I know you have a crush on her, but just tone the gay down a bit. Okay?
I was too lost in my own thoughts to notice Duke shake me gently, saying my name. "Y/N, are you okay?" she asked gently. "Woah, what happened to the aggressive girl I met earlier?" I smirk. "Y/N," she whined, playfully punching my arm. "That is my name," I smile at her. We looked at each other in silence and laughed. When you have a good best friend, you laugh together at basically everything, may it be silence. After we had a good laugh can we caught up on each other's lives, we had to part to go to our classes.
