[2nd Person POV:]

You were gonna go blind. You never wanted this. You wanted to see your girlfriend and how beautiful she looked in the sunshine. You wanted to see Mackie smile at you. You wanted to be able to see the love of your life. But all of these dreams came crashing down when you found out you were gonna go blind. It hurt. It hurt to know that one day, you were gonna wake up to darkness. You knew this was going to happen to you. You never said it out loud but you had glaucoma. You have had it for long enough that it was almost to the point where you were fully blind. It's been affecting your daily life so much. How could you break this news to your girlfriend?

"Honey! I'm home!" Mac joked as she walked into your shared apartment. "Babe?" You heard footsteps coming closer to your room. You wiped your tears as best you could and put on a fake smile. "Yes?" you asked her. "Are you okay? You look like you've been crying. Baby, what's wrong?" Mac held your hands in yours. It was too much. You cried into her shoulder and she held you as close as she could. "I-I can't tell you yet. It'll change everything and- and I don't want that to happen," you confessed. "Nothing will change, I assure you," Mac said looking straight into your E/C eyes. (ex-squeeze me miss, I will stare as gay as I want 😤💅)

Mac could see the sadness in your eyes and she felt bad. "Mac, I can't. Everything will change." Mac understood how you felt. She just nodded and let you cry further into her shoulder. You pulled back and looked at her. You took in her features. Her light skin, her fluffy, curly, blonde hair that shined, her brown eyes that looked like hazel in the sunlight, her yellow clothing. Everything. You wanted to memorize what she looked like.

"You're beautiful," you whisper. "What's with all of this?" Mac sadly smiled at the comment. "I hate it, Heather." Mac knew it was serious when you used her first name. "What do you hate?" she wondered. "I fucking hate it," you sighed. "Heather McNamara. I want you to know, you're the sunlight in my life. I want you to remember that." Sure you may have been overly dramatic, but this was big news. Heartbreaking news. You weren't dying, but it felt like you were losing everything. "I know, babe. I know," Mac leaned onto your shoulder and smiled at you.

She cupped your face and kissed you on your salty lips. "Heather, I'm going blind," you finally say. Mac looked at you with surprise. "Go on, break up with me. You don't wanna be with someone practically useless." (I'm not saying that blind people are useless, I quite disagree with that statement) Your happy and bubbly girlfriend now had tears in her eyes. "Why would you ever think I'd break up with you?" she cried. "Because I'm turning blind," you were trying your hardest not to cry again.

"Is there anything we can do to fix it? Please! I want you to be able to see!" Mac cried even harder. "There's nothing you can do," you hung your head. "I have glaucoma. I have had it for a long time now." "No." Mac took a deep breath and cupped your face again. There were streams of tears staining your face and you sniffled. She wiped your tears and smiled through her tears of sadness. "You're still perfect. I don't care if you're blind. I promise to be a good girlfriend and help you through this. I'll support you," Mac said, putting her forehead on yours.

"You really are the greatest, Mac & Cheese." She laughed at your nickname for her. "I know," she joked. You looked at her once more and took in her features again. "What are you doing?" she asked. "I want to be able to remember what my loving girlfriend looks like," you replied. Mac playfully hit your arm. "You're so cheesy," she laughed. You two laid down on your guys' bed. "Can we stay here? Just forget about everything and take in the moment?" Mac asked, looking straight into your eyes. "Of course, love," you say. You both laid there in comfortable silence while you both held hands.

"I love you, Heather." "I love you more."

A/N: Sorry to leave this on a sad note. I just wrote this before because at the time I was writing a lot of angsty stuff, so this was the spawn of that. So it's shitter than recent ones. Again, I'm sorry, and if you didn't bother to read the A/N before this, just a heads up, I might posting less frequently, and the stories may be shorter and shitter as they come. It's because of... let's just say it's because of technical difficulties. Also, my editor/best friend, Plant, will be busy during summer which means they won't be editing my stories (since they deserve the break) and there's gonna be fewer dad jokes. I'm hoping I don't have to take about a 2-month hiatus, that's the worst-case scenario. I'm sorry for ending this on an angst-ish chapter. I'm very sorry and I'll see you soon. Stay safe and don't forget, you're always valid. ~ An sad potato
