Y/N: Your name

Warnings: Swearing

[Y/N's POV:]

It was the day me and Duke were going to tell everyone about our relationship. I was so excited but I was so worried at the same time. Our friends knew that me and Duke have been best friends ever since, even going as far as to call ourselves sisters. But one day I realized that my infatuation and admiration for her were actually just me having a crush on the brunette, and she felt the same! Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Heather, my ex-girlfriend, now turned best friend, approach me. "Heather! What's up!" I grinned at my friend. She rolled her eyes but smiled. "Hey, Y/N," she greeted. "I'm doing great!" I grinned, my smile reaching my eyes. I saw one of Heather's eyebrows shoot up in suspicion. "What's going on?" she asked. "Nothingggg!" I dragged the "g" for a few seconds. "Mhm, you were always a bad liar," she ruffled my H/C hair. We both walked into school, me having a little jump in my step. She slurped her slushie and ate some corn nuts as we waited for class to start since we had a few more minutes.

I waved enthusiastically at the rest of the Heathers as they joined us in front of our lockers. "Hey, guys," Mac greeted. "Y/N," she started after a few seconds of observing me. "Hmm? Yeah?" I said quickly. "You look giddy. Is something going on?" she questioned. "N-nothing," I assured. "She's been like this the whole time," Heather added. "I don't know why." I shot Heather a look and then turned and smiled my brightest smile at Mac. "I swear nothing's going on!" The bell rang, saving me from explaining even more. "Gotta go! Bye!" I ran away quickly, leaving the girls in confusion. As I ran away, I made eye contact with Duke and realization flashed through her eyes.

I shared my first class with Veronica. She hadn't witnessed the conversation earlier, but I could tell she was itching to ask me what I was so excited about. I guess I wasn't good at hiding secrets. She went up to me and confronted me when we were supposed to pair up and discuss a problem. "Everything okay?" "Yes! No! Maybe!" I quickly said. I sighed and tried to calm myself down. "It's just a super important day for me. I can't really stay still," I admitted. Veronica gave me a soft smile and patted my back. "Well, I hope everything goes well for you today!" I smiled back and went back to work.

After class ended, I went back to my locker and sighed loudly. "That was super close. I gotta calm down," I talked to myself. "What was super close?" I heard a voice ask from behind me. I turned around quickly and stood face to face with my other best friend, JD. "What the fuck, JD?!" I yelled at him. "I mean, you're being pretty suspicious right now." (lol among us is so ded) "Whatttttt? Suspicious? Pfft, you're being weird right now?" I waved my hands everywhere. "Mhm... I'm watching you." JD narrowed his eyes and slowly backed away.

One by one, class went by and I kept on having close calls. Every single one of my friends has slowly become more suspicious of me. I packed up and made my way to the cafeteria. I walked next to the girl's bathroom and suddenly got pulled in. "Shhh! There might be someone listening," Duke put her finger on my lips. "What the fuck?!" I whisper-yelled. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I just wanted to..." she trailed off, looking down at my lips. "What, couldn't wait until we came out to our friends," I smirked. She shook her head but still kept looking at my lips.

I leaned in close as she did, ready to give her a long and slow kiss, but ultimately brushing my lips lightly against her's and pulling away. She gave a small whine from the back of her throat. "I thought you said someone might be watching," I teased, still close to Duke. She just frowned and crossed her arms. "I didn't say that. I said that someone might be listening!" "Well, anyone could have heard you whine," I smirked even more. Before she could quip a response, Heather, Veronica, and Mac came inside the bathroom. "Hide!"

Duke pulled me into the last stall, making sure that it was locked. I could feel her body pressed onto mine, making me blush a little bit. "Here, let's get on the toilet so that they don't see our feet," I whispered. "Ew! That's disgusting," she recoiled away. "Well, I'm sorry, Your Majesty. Is the public toilet not to your liking?" I rolled my eyes. "Fuck you." "Well I'm hoping to do that tonight," I winked. I helped Duke climb onto the toilet and hide her feet. I also climbed on the toilet too.

"What do you think Y/N was hiding?" Mac questioned. "I don't know, did she impulsively buy another puppy?" Heather guessed while reapplying her makeup. I heard Duke snicker from behind me, trying to stay quiet by laughing into her hand. "I don't do that!" I pouted. "You definitely do, and that's why you're so cute," she sighed. "Whipped." "I hate you." I heard feet shuffling around and tensed up. "Where is Duke anyways?" Veronica piped up. "Somewhere, maybe fucking Y/N," Heather said casually.

Me and Duke made eye contact and I felt a range of emotions swell inside me, mostly confusion. "They wouldn't do that! At least in school... Would they?" I heard Mac ask. "They probably would, the sexual tension around them can be so uncomfortable on a myriad of levels." I felt my face warm up and looked back to see how my girlfriend was doing. She was also blushing in embarrassment but she was also biting her lip. In short, she was being really hot.

"Once I find Duke though, I'm going to give her The Talk." "You're going to teach her where babies come from?" Veronica joked. "No! You're stupid, Ronnie. I'm going to give her the 'Don't break my best friend's heart or else I'll break you.' kind of talk. I don't want Y/N to be in a toxic relationship again. I know Duke's a good gal, but I can't help but worry about Y/N, you know? After I hurt her, I felt so bad. And I'm not going to lie, I can't help but miss us being girlfriends. Just to save her the heartbreak But better broken up than staying in a toxic relationship," Heather confessed. I was surprised when she said she missed us being girlfriends for she was the one that fell out of love first. But I couldn't help but feel happy that Heather was willing to threaten Duke in order to protect me, as weird as it may sound.

Heather and I became close friends after the breakup and hearing that just confirmed the fact that she was one of my closest friends. "Welp, we're finished with our makeup, so we should go to lunch now," Mac clapped. "Mhm, I call the cheese fries!" Heather called out. "Bitch," Veronica muttered. "What did you say?" "Nothing!" After making sure they were gone, Duke and I slowly climbed out of the stall. For a few seconds, we just said nothing, everything that just happened processing in our brains. "Wait, they accept us," Duke piped up. "They accept us," I echoed. "They accept us!" we both squealed in happiness.

We spent a few minutes calming our nerves even though we knew our friends would accept us either way. I took a deep breath, exhaling slowly. "It's time. Are you ready?" I asked my girlfriend. "I'm ready," she affirmed, slowly grabbing my hand in hers. "Good, because I'm not ready at all. But at least I have you," I squeezed Duke's hand, sending her a small smile. "Typical, Y/N," she rolled her eyes. She stepped forward first and opened the door of the bathroom, revealing a mostly empty hallway. She basically dragged me to the cafeteria to where our friends were sitting. I looked at her and she looked at me. We had a silent conversation before deciding to do it right now. Better rip off the band-aid.

"We have something we want to tell you," Duke started. The group exchanged glances until someone finally spoke up. "Okay, rip off the band-aid," JD said. "We're dating," I finished. "Okay put the band-aid back on," JD joked. "I'm sorry, I'm just kidding." I released the breath I didn't even know I was holding. "You owe me ten dollars by the way," Betty smirked, holding her hand out. "Fine," grumbled JD. "You guys bet on us?" I asked in confusion. "It was an easy win," Betty smirked, waving the ten dollars in JD's face, taunting him. "Actually, there's one more thing. May I talk to you, Duke," Heather smiled, obviously having some type of evil intention. "U-uh, okay?"

As she was dragged away, Duke mouthed "Help me!" to me. I shook my head "no". I giggled behind my hand as Duke's eyebrows narrowed in betrayal. She put her middle finger up and mouthed "Fuck you." She then turned away to have the said Talk with Heather. "So, easy win?" I asked. "This man has a horrible gay-dar. 'They're just friends,' he said," Veronica laughed. "'Just friends'?" I asked, using air quotes. "You guys were friends for the longest time! Don't blame me! Just because I got with Veronica doesn't mean I know how!" We teased JD for the rest of the day, laughing at how flustered he looked. This definitely couldn't have gone better than I thought.

A/N: Hey, gays! I'm back and I'm sorry for going on a very long hiatus. I have a reason for it, it's because of school. Hey, just because I said I had a reason for it doesn't mean that it's a good reason. Also, I had to take a break because of my mental health. It's definitely deteriorating. So bad news, I might not be able to post for long periods of time because of school. Even more bad news, Plant is probably not coming back, but I'll always have space for them if they want to come back. I'm sorry this is so short and I'm really sorry for everything. I promise I'll be back soon. I'll see y'all on the other side! Stay safe and remember, you're all valid! ~ A revived potato
