“Katy Perry's on replay, she’s on replay
DJ got the floor to shake, the floor to shake
and people going all the way, yeah all the way
I'm still wide awake...”
blasted through my headphones as I was finishing of my daily 3k run with Helen and Liv. These girls where my life and every day we ran 3k together. Not just for the fitness but for training for the many marathons and fun runs we participate in, this charity work all started 5 years ago when my mum was hit with breast cancer. This shock to my family, friends gave me a mental view of life a whole change and I decided I would run for cancer research to raise awareness and out of the good-will of my friends they’d seen my passion for the charities and decided to help me with my fund-raising. So this is where we are today we’ve ran a total of 122 marathons (of different lengths) and have raised nearly £250,000 between us for charity. We had just reached my house were we finished our run every day and I heard a murmured call of my name from inside my house.
"LILLE!!!" I presume was my mum so I told the girls to join me, for the usual lectures I had been getting lately, for back-up.
By the way Lillie is me I’m 18 years old and I live in Liverpool. I have long brown curly hair which is tight from the roots and I have baby blue eyes. As you can tell I am an avid fund-raiser and love running for charities, I love doing this with my best friends; Olivia (or Liv as she likes best) has long dark brown hair and dark brown rainbow eyes, Helen has long brown mousy hair with blue/green/grey eyes. An together we make the perfect running team as we'd never do it with anyone else. We are a loud bunch but in completely different ways I am loud through constantly talking and chatting to people. Liv is loud as in she comes out with the most random things and questions which puts me in fits of giggles, and Helen's main and distinctive way of being loud is her recognisable laugh that sums her up perfectly loud, laughable and energetic- with a high squeal at the end.
“oh great! your with the girls, come sit down please” she actually seemed happy today but we still did as she said.
“what's wrong Mrs Folken?” asked Liv knowing she wouldn’t get shouted at if she asked,
“ nothing dear I actually have some exciting news for you girls and I've been waiting for the right time to tell you” she told us in a relaxed tone which didn't help as the three of us all edged forwards on our seats.
“go on” I broke the silence,
“ well as you know you have raised an amazing amount of money for the cancer research over the past 5 years and have gone about it with no thought so, me and your mums have decided you need some recognition for your achievements....” I interrupted her
“ get to the point then!!” I asked with anxiety filling up in me.
“we have organised for you to have a celebratory party as a thank you from all the charities and families you have helped to say thank you for you hard work!! “ she managed to get in between long gasps of air to prevent herself from crying. I could see from her face how proud she was of me and the girls.
“ are you being serious? “pondered Helen not sure if she was lying or not.
“ I am for definite and we may even have a slight surprise to throw in as well” and with that I stood up and hugged the girls and then my mum “so how long have we got to go find something to wear?” I asked presuming she would answer with a couple of weeks but no.....
“ well the parties tonight so as there’s no time for shopping I have organised a personal shopper and stylist to give you girls that extra special treatment you deserve...” and before she could answer me ,Liv and Helen had taken one look at each other then bombarded my mum on the couch not being able to thank her enough. So although I called her narky and moody this had proven to me she has got a soft side and that we can get along sometimes.
After a mad hour of not being able to take all the information so quickly we had calmed down and were ready for our 'makeovers' as I was calling it. We all got the chance to describe what our perfect outfit would be to the personal shopper and she used her skills to pull together from the collection of many clothes she had brought to make us look like super stars. We then had the excitement of having our hair, make-up and nails done, while playing in the background was the up all night CD on its 4th repeat.
(And just to let you know this was a common CD played in our house as one direction where the most beautiful, funny, charming and special boys I and the girls had ever laid eyes on which unfortunately wasn't a reality yet as we had only ever watched them on TV and youtube, but it will come true one day)
back to reality me and the girls had now been pampered for a lovely 5 hours straight and were adding the final touches to our looks and then all piling into a taxis to be taken to the surprise location were our celebration party was taking place.
