part 29

 The taxi pulled up outside Zayn's block of apartments, the place was dead and it was freezing outside.

“here ill pay for my part of the journey now”said zayn passing a handful of notes towards the driver.

“no its okay”i said reaching to stop him but the driver had already taken it and given zayn his change.

“that was kind of you but am worried you won't be able to get up to your apartment”i said watching him struggle out the door.

“ill be fine”he said stumbling and trying to find the door to shut it.

“if you dont mind waiting 10 minutes ill just make sure he gets inside”i said to the driver hoping out my door and making my way round to help guide zayn into the building out the cold.

“look am sure I can make it up a few flight of stairs Lillie”he said trying to push me off him.

“zayn I dont think you can make a few steps never mind all those stairs just stop and let me help you”i said trying to get through his drunken state of mind.

“okay but just to let you know am only doing this because it means were getting close again”he said staring down at me which made me simply roll my eyes and start walking forwards.

“you know I don't hate you and I do want us to get close again zayn you just need to understand its not going to happen over night”i said as we had walked halfway up.

“yeah I know that I just don't see no harm in trying to speed things up”he said and I could see his cheeky smirk out the corner of my eye.

“as long as you understand then”i said marching on towards up the stairs and dragging zayn along.

We reached his front and he fumbled round his in pockets until I checked his jacket and found them for him,

“here you go”i said handing them over, just wanting to get home myself.

“thanks”he said feeling round for the key hole and eventually opening the door and walking inside, I'd only been in Zayn's apartment once and that was briefly to use his toilet. I hadn't realised how quickly we had got to know each other and next thing Zayn was asking me out, it all went quiet quickly and even then our relationship didn't last that long either.

“do you want to come in for a drink”asks zayn being very sweet but I had left the taxi waiting.

“no I think....”i tried to leave,

“oh come on just come have a cup of tea with me it wont hurt”he said touching my arm to bring inside his apartment.

“but what about the taxi”i said almost backing off, I wanted to stay but at the same time I really didn't.

“it'll be fine come on”he walked off leaving the door open but that's when I heard 3 loud beeps from downstairs.

I immediately turned and ran down the stairs hoping it wasnt my taxi beeping and that it was still there,

“please be there, please be there”i whispered to myself jumping 3 steps at a time to get down quicker.

“oh shit!”i said to myself seeing out the door of the building my taxi driving away down the road, what was I to do now.

“oh my god wheres my stuff”i said again to myself and I dont know why I thought id say everything aloud but it must have been the shock.

But as if to answer my questions as I took a step out the door there on the floor was all the birthday gifts and my clutch, thank god. I checked to see if everything was there and it was my phone, keys, money I suppose it could have been worse and the driver could of taken my stuff. I pulled my phone out in order to call another taxi to go home in yet when I went to unlock it I had ran out of battery, just great what was I to do now, I looked back over my shoulder and although I really didnt want to I suppose it was the only option I had left, so I made my way back upstairs to join zayn for his offer of a drink in hope he had a phone charger.
