"Okay, I expect your formative assignments done in one month" Giovanni spoke as we packed away our things. As I put my pen in my bag, it slipped out of my hand and rolled off. I sighed and went to pick it up but someone else did it for me. I looked up to see that it was a girl with bright blue hair and thick black eye liner.
"This yours?" She asked in a nice voice. This is why you should NEVER judge a book by it's cover - yes someones appearance may throw you off but they're most likely an extremely kind soul. I noticed they were wearing a black printed cami top and black wide jeans along with platform heels - and a spikey choker. Yup, deffo my kind of person."Uh yeah. Thanks...I...like your outfit" I gabbled awkwardly, taking my pen from her hand.
"Thanks, I like your shoes. How many people stared at you on your way here?" They grinned.
I scoffed playfully. "Too many to count"
"I get that - but if they're staring, you're doing the right thing. I'm Delilah. Pronouns are She/They. And you?"
"Zahra. She/her" I think.
"Nice to meet you Zahra. So...what are you doing after this?"
"Probably going to my flat to work on the assignment" I sighed. "You?"
"Library. Hey, you should come with. Lots of stuff in there that can help with the assignment"
"Uh yeah sure, I-i'll just get my bag"So like that, Delilah and I headed to the library after leaving class. She told me that they were part Arab as her mother is from the Middle East and her father is from England. She was born and raised in Bristol and thoroughly enjoyed the Percy Jackson series growing up. They asked about me but I kept it short as I didn't like talking about myself.
"Born and raised in London. My Mum is from Bangladesh and my Dad is from England but his parents were born in Afghanistan. and well, I am too. I liked Harry Potter and all the Jacqueline Wilson books"
"Harry Potter was the shit. I'm a Hufflepuff"
"Slytherin...uh, is this it?"
"Yeah...wow it's so big. You think we'll find some information here?"
"Sure, I guess"We split up to look for the right sources. The Literature section was massive! My eyes skimmed each title rapidly, panic filling me. I got so worked up when looking for things. What was that book Giovanni told us about? I couldn't remember the title but I knew it was important.
"Looking for this?" I jumped out of my skin and turned my head to see the devil himself holding the book.
"Oh uh yes" I blushed awkwardly.
"It's all yours" He chuckled fondly, handing it to me. "Zahra, right?"
"Um yes. Thank you"
"Not a problem. How are you finding class?"
"It's...great. I-i like it a lot"
"Good...that's good" He flashed me a warm smile, his white teeth beaming. My cheeks grew hotter as the man stared deeply into my pupils.
"Zahra!? I found something!" I heard Delilah say as she looked for me.
"I um better to find my friend" I gabbled shyly.
"Good luck Zahra" Giovanni winked at me before he turned around and walked off."There you are! Oh, you found the book Sir told us about!? Sick! Let's go check these out. D'you wanna grab some lunch?" Delilah went on as we walked to the front desk.
"Uh sure, yeah sounds good"
