ROWAN, BENNY, ETHAN, AND RORY were walking down the halls, rory and benny were arguing over something that rowan wasn't too sure about, because she was totally absorbed in her phone. 'he's a huge, awesome robot. all he'd have to do is yank on the warp engine nacelles.'

'okay, that's like saying a dude could fight a boat!' benny retaliated.

'guys, just. . . can't we do this in a girl-free zone?'

'rowan, what do you think?' benny asked the girl, who looked up from her phone just to ram into a boy who was running down the hall.

rowan flew across the hall, and well as her phone. when it hit the ground, it completely shattered the screen. 'oh my god, i'm so sorry!' the boy apologized, putting his hand out to help her up.

'it's fine, but, i think you sorta bruised my ribs.' rowan replied, getting her first good look at the boy. he had brown, shaggy hair, bright green eyes, and his face was splattered with freckles.

'i'm so sorry,' the boy repeated. 'i'm eric.'

'rowan,'

benny leaned over and grabbed rowan's phone off of the ground. 'row, your phone looks like it got put through a woodchipper.'

rowan, completely oblivious to what happened to her phone, stood up and grabbed it from benny. 'oh my god!'

'holy— i'm so sorry, i'll pay for you to get it fixed!' eric offered politely.

rowan shook her head, assuring him, 'no, it's okay, don't worry.'

'here, let me get your number, in case you change your mind.' eric said, pulling out his phone. 'or in case. . . you maybe wanted to maybe go on a date sometime.'

benny's eyes bulged out of his head, so did ethan's. rory wasn't paying attention, however, because he was eating random stuff out of his pockets.

'oh, uh, sure.' rowan answered, her entire face turning as red as a tomato. she was quite sure she hadn't been asked out since the sixth grade, in which rory asked her out nearly every week.

eric smiled sweetly, 'i'll text you,'

the group watched as he swiftly walked away, before rowan hit ethan's arm repeatedly. 'did you see that?!'

'i think i saw it, rowan.' ethan answered, turning to look at benny, who had his mouth wide open. 'and i think benny saw it too.'

'how're you gonna date a guy that cracked your phone?' rory chimed in as ethan reached up to close benny's mouth.
