Punishment

Sasuke and Naruto walked inside of Konoha, and the first person to notice them was a shinobi.

"Naru-" the shinobi paused when he saw Sasuke standing there beside Naruto. "-to...Sasuke?"

Sasuke looks up at him. "Yeah, I'm Sasuke."

"Is this necessary?" Naruto asked.

Kakashi shrugged. "He left the village, killed Itachi, then you left the village, and now you both show up together."

Naruto and Sasuke had their hands cuffed behind their backs, and stood five feet away from the Hokage's desk.

Sasuke looked calm as if he expected it.

Naruto was upset, he didn't expect Kakashi to do this.

"Kakashi-sensei, are you accusing something?" Naruto asked.

"Why did you leave the village?" Kakashi asked Naruto.

"You know why I did." Naruto looked down. "I went after Sasuke."

"You couldn't wait for my order to go as a team under a Jonin's watch?"

"I didn't want to go as a team!" Naruto met Kakashi's eyes again. "I wanted to go by myself!"

"Did Sasuke ask you to leave the village?"

"I left on my own will."

Kakashi sighed. "Why?"

"To get closure on my feelings for him. Before he left the village, he didn't reject me nor accept me, so I went after him to get his final answer. It took a few months to get his answer, and I didn't leave his side to be with him."

"You love him, so you went after him." Kakashi said. "You still did something wrong trying to do something right."

"I accept my punishment, but I want to serve my time with Sasuke. That's the only way I'll go without struggle." Naruto said.

"Special treatment is not my thing, Naruto. It doesn't matter if you did save the village from Pain, you still did something wrong."

"Kakashi-sensei, I'll do whatever you want if you allow me to share a cell with Sasuke."

"I don't want anything from you, but if you really are desperate to be with Sasuke. Then take part in rebuilding the village with everyone. I'll send Shikamaru to watch you, if you manage to rebuild one building without ninjutsu. I'll allow your request."

"How long is the time window?"

"48 hours." Kakashi points to the clock on the wall. "Starting from early morning at four, you'll tackle one building alone without ninjutsu. Will that be too hard for you?"

"No, I can handle it." Naruto replied.

"Someone will give the instructions to you, but no one will assist you. Got it?"

"Yes sensei."

"Sasuke will be in solitary confinement, until you manage to finish in 48 hours. If you don't finish by then, you two will be in separate cells for the remainder of your custody."

"I understand." Naruto mumbled, hating the thought of being away from Sasuke for just a few days.

Not only will he have to stay away from him for 48 hours to complete the task, but if he fails-he'll have to spend another few days away from him.

Naruto did not want that at all.

"Today you two will be temporarily in the same cell, we have an inmate on his last day, so once the inmate leaves, which will be around the time you will leave to begin your task, Sasuke will be moved to solitary confinement to avoid sharing a cell with another inmate."
