Buckys arm was wrapped tightly around Adira's waist as the two of them and Steve walked around the expedition "i dont see what the problem is. Youre about to be the last eligible man in New York. You know there is about three and a half million women here?"
"Yeah well i would settle for just one" Steve muttered and sent a small look at the girl in his best friends grip who was tightly snuggled into Buckys side with a small smile on her face as she tried to enjoy her last moments that she would be spending with her love for who knows how long
"yeah well good thing i got that covered" Bucky said and then waved as he found the girl he had arranged to meet Steve, she ran over with a big smile on her face until she noticed the girl in buckys arm, she sent her a glare to which Adira just responded to with a smile
"what did you tell her about me?" Steve whispered to Bucky
"only the good stuff" Bucky whispered back with a smirk as the girl went to Steve who looked at her awkwardly, not knowing what to do in this situation
"well, lets go shall we?" Bucky asks them all and places a kiss on the top of Adiras head and they all nod and then make their way into the expodition.
They walked around the expedition until a few murmurs were heard about Howard stark and the girl that Bucky had arranged for Steve grabbed onto Buckys hand "come on its about to start" she smiled at him and fluttered her eyelashes at him seductively. He pulled his hand out of her grip and nodded his head, clearly not impressed
"well how about you stay with Steve and i'll stay with my girlfriend and we will go see Howard Stark" Bucky says and shoots her a sarcastic smile before leading Adira over towards the crowd of people leaving Steve and the girl behind. While Steve was smiling knowingly, the girl stood there with her mouth hung open as she watched the couple.
"Im sorry but you havent got a chance with him, theyve been officially together since they were 15 and they were basically a thing since they were like four years old, i've never seen anyone love someone as much as they love wach other, not even my parents" Steve said as he looked over at Bucky and Adira. Adira had just said something to Bucky and Bucky was now laughing with a twinge of pink in his cheeks "they were made for each other"
"Whatever" the girl muttered out with a scoff as she looked at the couple, and she could see what he meant, she could see the way that they were looking at each other and she let out a soft sigh before walking off and leaving Steve behind and going off to find someone else she could 'hang out' with
Steve sighed softly and then walked up behind the couple and watched as Howard Stark walked out onto the stage in front of them with all of the dancers, and then he grabbed onto one of the dancers and kissed her hard before letting her go and all of the dancers walked off the stage.
Howard was passed a microphone and began to talk into it as he smiled out widely to the crowd "ladies and gentleman, what if i told you that in just a few short years that your automobile wont even have to touch the ground at all." and then the dancers came forward and pulled the wheels off the big, shiny red car in the middle of the stage and some of the crowd gasped in amazement "yes. Thanks, Mandy. With Stark Gravitic Reversion Technology. You will be able to do just that" Stark then reached over to a lever and began to push it up, and as he did, the car slowly began to float.
More gasps of amazement flowed from the crowd and Adira couldnt help but stare at the car in amazement. Bucky's eyes trailed down to his girlfriend and he smiled softly at her face. It was clear of make-up unlike all the other girls around, though he swore she was far more beautiful and she had a smile on her lips that could light up not just New York, but the entire world "hey doll" he whispered down to her and she quickly looked up at him with a smile and nodded her head, waiting for him to continue "you look beautiful"
Adiras cheeks flashed a deep crimson and she wacked his chest softly, the grin on her face only grew and Bucky was proud that he was the one that caused her to smile the brightest "not as beautiful as you Bee" she smiled at him and he rolled his eyes playfully at the nickname she had been calling them since they met when they were 3 and the fact that she just called him beautiful "im not beautiful, im handsome" he corrected her and she raised her eyebrows
"you are handsome" she commented and he smiled cockily "but you are also beautiful" she then turned to him with a serious look on her face "i mean it Bee, you truely are the most beautiful person i've ever met and I completely and utterly adore you. I wan't nothing but the best for you and I hope that I will never lose you"
They stared in each others eyes for a moment, nothing came out of either of their mouths and yet millions of words were said "I promise you, you will never lose me. I love you more than anything doll" he softly placed his forhead agaisnt hers and then connected their lips, the kiss was soft and yet so full of passion and adoration. It only lasted for about 10 seconds but for them it felt like it had lasted a year. Neither of them were even paying attention to the show anymore
Bucky pulled away and then reached into his pocket and pulled something out of it. He opened his hand and on his palm was a beautiful silver chain with a golden ring attached "I was going to give you this later tonight, but I cant wait any longer" he muttered and she stared at it as he held it up and gestured for her to turn around, she turned around and Bucky reached over her head and then began to clip the back of the necklace, his fingers were nice and warm and the feeling of them tracing along her neck sent shivers down her spine "its a promise ring. I promise you that when this is all over, we're going to get married and we are going to settle down probably in a small town somewhere and we are going to have kids, lots of them, I promise we are both going to get through this war and live the rest of our days together happily"
"Bucky..." she whispered out softly trying hard not to cry as she turned around to look at him but he shushed her by placing his lips on her own "you don't need to say anything. Its a promise right? and you know i never break my promises" They were cut out of their moment by a bang, they looked up towards the stage to see that the floating car had fallen to the ground.
The crowd all began to clap loudly "i did say a few years didnt I?" Stark asked as he looked out at them all trying to cover up the mistake that had just happened and he began to chuckle awkwardly.
"Hey Steve what do you say that we go and..." bucky and Adira turned around to notice that Steve and the girl were missing
"Lets go and find Steve" Adira muttered out with a sigh and Bucky nodded his head and grabbed her hand, lacing their fingers together and then the two of them began to walk around looking for steve, though once they saw the giant sign reading 'United States Armed Services Recruitment' they knew exactly where they would find the boy
