Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten; Retaking Trost

I sighed as I leaned heavily against Mikasa. Commander Pixis, Eren and Armin walked off to talk about the plan that Armin had thrown out to save our hides, so me and Mikasa were left standing on the Wall next to the canons and some soldiers.

"We've almost died too many times for one day." I mumbled.

"You're telling me." She scoffed.

"At least it hasn't been a boring day." I smiled up at her. She cracked a slight smile and rolled her eyes.

"You have an odd way at looking at things." She chuckled softly. I smiled and shrugged.

"ATTTTEEENNTTIIOOON!" Commander Pixis voice boomed.

"Ah, he must be telling them the plan." I bit my lip nervously. "I'm not really looking forward to going back there." I admitted.

"Neither am I..." She whispered.

"You two will be on the elite squad. Our goal is to stay with Eren and protect him while he moves the boulder. Got it?" Ian Dietrich, the elite teams squad leader said. Me and Mikasa nodded our heads in unison. "Good." He nodded. I turned to Eren and pulled him into a tight embrace. He was a bit surprised at first, but hugged back. I reached my arm out and pulled Mikasa and Armin into the hug too.

"Don't any of you die on me...got it?" I whispered into Eren's chest. Everyone mumbled 'got it' before we parted. Armin was placed on an entirely different squad sadly. We waved goodbye as he ran off to join his team. "Alrighty lets move a boulder." I smiled as I activated my maneuvering gear. I followed after the rest of our squad with Mikasa to my right and Eren to my left. We all landed on a roof of a building, except for Eren who landed on the floor in front of the boulder. I turned my head slightly to see Ian shoot off a green flare, signaling that the mission has begun.

BOOM

I quickly cover my eyes with my arm as steam surrounded us. I coughed slightly and swatted the steam away. Eren...er Titan Eren stepped out of the steam and roared loudly. He stood in front of the boulder, doing nothing. Mikasa flew over to a separate roof top, I followed after her. "What the hell is he doing?!" I said as I landed down next to her.

"Something's not right." She stated as she looked worriedly at Eren. I bit my lip. She was right.. Steam was still radiating off his body. My eyes widen as he turned his head towards us.

"Mikasa!!" I yelled loudly. Eren's fist slammed down on the roof where we were. We both landed roughly on different roofs. "What the fuck!!" I hissed in pain. I tried pushing myself up, but I couldn't. I fell back onto the roof hard. I whimpered as pain erupted throughout my body.

"Cadet Hawke!!" Someone yelled as they zipped over to me.

"I'm fine... Just give me a moment." I mumbled at the Squad leader. I managed to push myself up from the ground, despite the protests of my aching body. "W-what is she doing." I gasped and leaned heavily on him as I stared at Mikasa. She was now on Eren's nose, holding onto a strand of his hair.

"Ackerman!! Get away from him!!" Ian yelled.

"Eren don't you recognize me?! I'm Mikasa!! Your family..!" She yelled. "Listen, you have to block that hole with that boulder!" She yelled louder at him. I looked over my shoulder to see Rico shoot up a red flare, signaling that the mission was a failure. My heart dropped.

"Mikasa get away!!" I pleaded.

"No!!" She cried out. "Eren, Eren listen to me, you're human, you're-"
