"Bree!" Bucky thought he heard her voice in a dream. The loud noises caused by the bombs had done some hearing damage to him. He climbed out of bed in a swift move and quickly pulled a shirt on before heading to his best friend's small apartment. Steve was out in Germany at the current moment so Bucky took his baseball bat just in case. He didn't have any weapons on him so he would have to rely on his body for defense.
"Bree?" he said, softly before opening her room door. If she was there and could hear him, she would have replied with. "Buck."
If.
Bucky got worried and slowly opened Briar's room door, hoping he wouldn't be interrupting something. He knew how grumpy she got when woken up before her alarm rang.
He paused as he saw that her bed was empty. Thinking she was in the restroom, he knocked on her bathroom door.
No response.
"Bree, this isn't funny," he said, getting more concerned. They fought last night and he remembered the disappointed look he received from her. It hurt him.
He knew they would make up the next day. That's how it always went. Briar would act like she was mad and petty but by the end of the day, her fist would be mere inches from his face since she was a quick learner when it came to fighting. Then they would quickly pretend as if Bucky hadn't been teaching Briar how to fight before Steve came home.
Bucky finally opened her restroom door and it was empty. It looked like nothing had been taken or stolen. He studied her bed and the contents in her room. Her bed wasn't made- just like always. Her favorite- and only- blanket was laying on her bed and Bucky ran his fingers through it.
Everything was placed the same as usual.
The only thing missing was Briar.

"Lighten up, dude," Sam cackled as he threw a water balloon at Bucky who immediately dodged it. It went flying straight into Sharon Carter instead, who scowled and dropped her gun. Thankfully, it wasn't loaded so no one got injured.
Except for Sam who was running away from Sharon. She started screaming insults at him while she chased him around the SHIELD parking deck.
"What's wrong? You usually can't stop laughing whenever Sam annoys the hell out of Sharon," Maria Hill got out of her car and looked at Bucky.
"Hilarious," he deadpanned and faked a laugh.
Hill rolled her eyes. "This is what I get for attempting to socialize," she sighed as she walked away.
"You can fucking run but you can't hide, Birdie," Sharon shouted as Sam flew away in his suit. He childishly waved goodbye and soared through the sky. Sharon gave up and headed towards Bucky who was looking at the ground and playing with his fingers.
"What's up, Metal Arm?" she asked, catching her breath.
"Nothing." Bucky didn't know how to tell anyone about the daydream he had on the way to SHIELD headquarters. He didn't think they would understand. After all, he was the only one out of all 3 of them that had been brainwashed and an out-of-control assassin.
"Want to go out to a party later? It won't ever be as good as the ones Steve told me about but..." she raised an eyebrow.
Bucky acted like her words didn't sting him and nodded. Hopefully, he would have a solid excuse as to why he couldn't go later. He wasn't the partying type. Not anymore. How could he be in a partying mood when he knew he had hurt a lot of people? When he knew he had murdered a lot of people- most of them being innocent bystanders.
