"Can I have this dance?" Bucky grinned widely at Briar.

"I don't know," Briar arched an eyebrow. "Can you?"

Bucky's grin faltered but he caught on to what she was saying. "May I have this dance?" he corrected himself.

She chuckled and nodded as she placed her hand in his. He led her to the dance floor and grinned to himself.

"You know," he said in a low voice to her. She had to strain her hearing over the loud music and chattering surrounding them. "I always wanted to dance with you."

"Liar," she narrowed her eyes in a teasingly way. "I'm just here because you couldn't find a date tonight and all your soldier friends are here watching you. I saved you from embarrassment- which is ironic because you can't spell that without 'men'."

"I'm so offended."

"Good."

Briar smoothed the silk material of her dress with a frown as she glanced at herself in the mirror. She sucked in her stomach and was glad to see an improvement in how she looked after that.

"What's wrong?" Sharon asked, walking inside. She was wearing a royal purple off-shoulder dress that showed off her knees and below. Briar noticed her white heels with a golden accent to match. They made her appear a couple of inches taller.

"Nothing," she answered, ruffling her hair.

"No, it's something," Hill said, also walking in. "Spill."

She was going to the same event as them but didn't wear a dress. She was in her usual leather jacket and leather pants. Briar saw a gun located in her holster.

"Does this dress make me look bad?" Briar blurted out, twisting and turning to get a good look at herself in the mirror. Sharon and Hill chuckled as they watched her.

Briar's dress was sage green in color- it belonged to Sharon but she graciously handed it to Briar for the night. It had a split front which showed off one of Briar's legs.

"You look great," Hill assured her.

"I don't know," Briar muttered under her breath. "My boobs look so..."

"They look fine," Hill assured her once more. "I'm sure a certain someone will love the way you look in this dress."

"Huh?"

Sharon's warm smile disappeared and she busied herself by finding a lip gloss for Briar to use. Her eyes veered to Briar's bed which was in the corner of the room and noticed a familiar jacket. "Is that Bucky's jacket?" she nodded her head toward the leather jacket on Briar's bed.

"Er- yes," Briar answered and prayed that Sharon wouldn't notice her dagger peeking out of one of the pocket's. SHIELD had asked for it back, thinking it played a key role in HYDRA's plan but Bucky lied for her by telling them that they lost it.

"Oh," Sharon managed to say. Briar let out the breath she had been holding and watched Sharon walk out.

"Sweet dagger."

Briar whirled around to find that Hill was toying with the dagger.

"Shit," Briar racked her head for excuses.

"Don't worry," Hill winked with a smirk. "I won't tell."

"You're drooling," Sam chuckled as Bucky's eyes drifted to Briar as she walked into the room. She was laughing at something Sharon said and her smile broadened as she locked eyes with Bucky. He felt like he was exposed and tried to hide his blush. Briar opened her mouth to mouth something at him but was pulled away by Sharon as she led her toward Fury and other SHIELD authorities.
