Matt's POV: After driving away from the firehouse, I decided to stop at a strip mall before we headed home. Once I pulled into a parking spot, Gabby looked at me confused. "Why are we stopping here?" I sighed and went to grab her hand. "I want to talk to you about what happened back there here instead of our home. I want to leave that out here and not bring it home where we should be happy with our son." Gabby nodded and agreed as she intertwined our fingers. "I guess I am just a little shocked that it even happened. That was so out of character for him."
I agreed and then leaned to kiss her softly. "That's true. However, we haven't seen him in a long time. I just don't want you to ever think that this will change anything. I still see you the same way as I did from before that first attack on you in the shower. Nothing will change. Not now, not ever." Gabby smiled when I said that before putting her hand on my neck. "I wish we could just hold each other in bed for a while when we get home. I need you for a bit."
I looked at her and understood. "I will talk to my mom when we get home. I will tell her what happened and ask her to give us time alone in bed. She will understand Gabby. She of all people will understand what you need from your husband right now because she knows what she would've wanted from her husband when it happened to her." Gabby nodded and smiled when I said that. "Listen, we need to go. Can you take care of talking to your mom?" I nodded.
"Gabby, you just take care of yourself when we get home and remember that we are going to get through this together as a family." Gabby nodded and smiled when I said that. "I love you Matt and I am going to show you that when we get home." I liked the sound of that and smiled. "Then I am going to do the same. Now, let's get home where you are always going to be safe in my arms." Gabby smiled and nodded, ready to get home so we can get in bed together.
