Once Jay and Erin have arrived at the hospital
Jay's POV: As I walk into the hospital room my brother already set up for me, I smile when I see my two favorite doctors. I then walk up to them and go to hug them. "This okay?" Natalie nodded and smiled. "You're family and have been tested recently." I agreed and smiled while hugging her. I then shook Will's hand and smiled. "Listen, I am sure that this is just a precaution okay? I am only doing this for Erin's health." Natalie then looked at Erin. She was standing in the corner and just looked at me. "Keep talking and you're going to be on outside in the waiting room instead of in the room with me when Natalie gets us something." Natalie then turned to look at Erin, confused. "What am I getting you?" Erin smiled and rubbed her stomach. "We are here after all. Maybe I can give Jay a nice Christmas gift by letting him see our baby girl while we're here." I then shut up and looked at Will. "Check up please!"
Erin then chuckled and looked at me. "That got you to co-operate." I nodded and smiled. "Hey, you are going to do an ultrasound here in the hospital so we can get an update on Olivia. I am not going to miss an opportunity to see our little girl grow in your stomach." Natalie then smiled at us both. "Then listen Erin, how about you come with me? I need you to fill out some forms anyways. You can do it after your check up while we do the ultrasound Jay."
I then watched as Natalie and Erin walked away before looking at my brother. "What forms?" Will sighed and looked at me. "Contact tracing. You are required to fill one out whenever you get treated at the hospital." I nodded and understood. "What about you guys?" Will nodded. "However, it's done automatically. We have digital time cards. They use that to tell us whether or not we were here at the hospital." I nodded and looked at him. "By the way, since when are you working on Christmas? Merry Christmas by the way."
Will laughed and smiled. "Yes, what a Merry Christmas it is. You are here in the hospital with your pregnant wife because you are stubborn as always. You couldn't have gotten a checkup while we were still at the cabin?" I nodded and then opened my mouth so he could examine my throat. "Ah, that's what it is. Strep throat." I then looked at him. "Seriously, that's all it is?" Will chuckled and then went to take off his gloves. "Yep. It'll be gone by the new year. Not contagious at all so, you keep having fun in bed."
I then looked at Will, not happy. "Seriously, you had to say that?" He glared at me and sighed. "Dude, I've been waiting for this forever. You've been going on for years how much you love Erin and wanted to marry her. You finally got her. Don't screw it up by not listening to her! If she tells you to go to the hospital, come here ASAP." I nodded and agreed, smiling. "Still can't believe this is all real. I mean, we're going to be dads next year."
Will nodded. "Oh and we just found out that Natalie is actually almost 3 months along already. She's due in August instead of September." I was shocked when he said that. "Woah. SO that means it was before the wedding." Will nodded and smiled. "Listen, let's get up and then we can go see that ultrasound. However, mask up please." I nodded and agreed, going to mask up before walking away with Will to go see Erin.
Will's POV: As me and Jay walk towards the ultrasound room we have in the ER, I see Maggie at the desk. "Jay, go ahead. I'll be right there...just need to get the forms." He turned to look at me and agreed. "Sure, see you in there." He then walked away to to go the ultrasound room. Walking over to the desk, I smiled at Maggie. "Hey Maggie, think you can get me the contact tracing forms? I need some for Jay and Erin."
Maggie nodded and looked up at me. "Sorry you're working on Christmas. You probably want to be with Owen right now." I nodded and sighed. "He understands that we are doctors. Anyways, he gets to spend time with Helen. And we are only working a day shift. We get to be with him tonight. Get to have a delicious Christmas dinner tonight with my family." Maggie chuckled and smiled at me. "Last one before you have 2 kids."
I nodded and agreed. "Can't wait. I love being Owen's dad so, another kid will be amazing." Maggie smiled when I said that. "Just to let you know, we are going to throw Natalie some type of baby shower. I want to talk to you about it quick." I nodded and looked at her. Maggie then smiled. "So, we'll all bring the gifts here to the hospital. You'll take them home and then we'll get together on Zoom or something."
I agreed and liked that idea. "That sounds perfect. That way Jay and Erin can come too." Maggie chuckled and smiled. "It allows me to come too. Heck, I'm working a lot here. You should see my calendar. Recently, I have 1 day off a week because of how busy it is. There is literally no time for days off considering half of my nurses are at McCormick Place." I nodded and agreed when we all saw April run in. "Have you seen Goodwin?"
Maggie turned to look at her, concerned. "What's wrong April?" April then caught her breath and sighed. "Her daughter Tara just showed up at the COVID wing unconscious and has been diagnosed with COVID. I wanted to be the one to tell her." We were all shocked. "She just went back to work at home. You can call her from here." April nodded and agreed, walking behind the desk to give Goodwin a call to let her know that her daughter has COVID.
We then all looked at each other and sighed. "I'll be back soon okay? Have to give these forms to Jay. Might also ask if I can look at the ultrasound." Maggie agreed and nodded as I walked away to go give my brother the COVID forms and (maybe) get a glimpse at my niece.
