Rescue Day, yay!

You will never believe the crazy shit that happened during our daring rescue. I almost can't believe it myself. I won't ruin the surprise though, we'll get to it all in good time.

So without further ado, let me tell you how it all went down. After we ate guard number two and I got you up to date with all of our recent goings on, we made out some more. Just taking advantage of our privacy. Oh, and Meg let me get to second base-over the shirt. I'm hoping next time she'll let me under, that's if we live long enough for there to be a next time. I'm pretty hopeful, though-on both accounts.

So, we awaited patiently for Charlie and Tiff's return in the cramped broom cupboard. And as I just explained, we kept ourselves entertained, for the most part anyway. We weren't sure what we were waiting for exactly, but when the time came for us to take action, we would know.

Then, just as I was about to try my luck under the shirt, we heard running-lots of heavy boots running past our hiding spot. Once the corridor was silent again, I cracked the door open a fraction to peek out. Left: nothing. I pushed out further and looked right: nothing. The hallway was empty, and all seemed quiet, until I inched closer to the window at the end. There were shouts coming from outside and when I looked down, all I could see was hundreds of zombies surrounding the front of the building. It was go time!

We made our way back to the cells without a guard in sight. Then, just like we planned, we released all the locked up zombies, including Meg's father, Mr Judd.

"Get them to safety and we'll go get Charlie. I'd avoid the front though," I informed him.

"Don't worry about us. I know the perfect place to take everyone. There's a secret passage under the building that leads to the nearby cemetery. It used to come in handy back in the fifties when illegal human experiments were rife," Mr Judd replied.

"Ah... ok, cool. Good-luck and we'll see you on the other side."

"Look after my girl, and please be careful you two, Murdock is a dangerously disturbed man."

"We will." Meg kissed her dad goodbye, and we went our separate ways.

Now you're probably wondering who Murdock is? He's the Doc, the one who's been testing his so-called cure on us and he used to work with Mr Judd and Judy. It sounds like he'll stop at nothing to get this cure right. This man obviously takes his work way too seriously! I mean come on; we don't need a cure.

Meg and I followed the signs to the ground floor where Charlie and Tiff were last seen. We had to be very careful, mind you. There were guards all around the foyer trying to keep our zombie army out. They were running all over the show, looking for anything that could be used as a barricade.

When we couldn't find them anywhere, we thought it best to check the basement labs. That seemed to be ground zero, but we weren't sure what to expect. Would it be heavily fortified? Would it be empty? Did they finally find success with this cure and Charlie and Tiff are back to their old selves? Only one way to find out, I guess.

Once in the lift, we pressed the basement button, but the damn thing wouldn't work. We needed a key card. So I lurked in a dark corner, waiting for someone to come out of the lift with a card dangling from their pocket. Finally, a young Asian woman stepped out. Tiny little thing and she was wearing a guard's uniform. I had to laugh. What kind of threat did she pose? Tickling her assailants to death with her girly, petite hands?

Meg watched from a distance as I snuck up behind her to take her out with my knuckle dusters. That's when she spun-quickly. Her leg flew through the air at warp speed. Shit, she just smacked me upside the head, right in my good ear.

"Ow, what the hell!" I yelled.

"Thought you could outsmart me, huh? You ugly zombie freak. Don't let my size fool you, I'm a lot stronger than I look." Then she went and punched me, right in my freaking nose.

"I just want the card. Give it to me and I won't hurt you," I told her, whilst holding my throbbing face.

She just laughed at me, like a real creepy high-pitched laugh, like how I'd imagine a banshee to sound. Then the next minute I was on the ground. She lorded herself over me, bouncing from side to side, hands in the air like a boxer. This woman was cray cray.

She was about to kick me again when Meg snuck up behind her ever so slowly and sunk her teeth into the back of her noggin. Forget laughing, now she was screaming like a banshee. She was banging her head with her hands over and over until suddenly, she just stopped.

Her head snapped up, and her hungry eyes looked straight at me.

"Don't even think about it," I said to her as she licked her lips. "Zombies taste like regurgitated ass fluff. You'll be wanting some fresh meat to ease that insatiable hunger taking over your body right now."

"Point me toward the last warm body you saw," she demanded.

I pointed up at her.

"Not me, you ass hat, I can't eat myself."

"Well..."

"Hey, you said you want this card? Then point me towards my first walking meal."

I pointed back towards the front foyer. She threw the card at me and took off in that direction at a million miles an hour.

"Sweet, that wasn't so hard," I joked.

Meg arched a brow at me.

"What? Come, let's go get your brother." She shook her head and followed me into the lift.

"You could've just stabbed her instead of making her a zombie," I said to Meg as we headed to the basement.

"Yeah, I thought of that too. But then figured she'd make a way better zombie. She's going to wreak havoc up there," she replied with an evil cackle.

"I like the way you think." Then I planted a big smooch on those lovely lips of hers.

When the doors opened onto the basement level, it was exactly what you'd expect a dodgy laboratory to look like. A long, empty, brightly lit hallway. The lights flickered every few seconds and at the very end was a door that said 'Do Not Enter' in red. An open invitation if ever I saw one.

As we walked a little further, we noticed a bunch of rooms with viewing windows. They lined either side of the long corridor. The first one we came to was empty, but the next was not. There, lying on an operating table, was some poor schmuck with a white sheet over their head.

"Maybe we should look to see if it's someone we know?" Meg suggested.

"Let's not resort to that till we have to, hey."

She nodded and we carried on. I could tell she was worried that we hadn't found Charlie yet. We passed more windows, all filled with bodies covered in white sheets, and I assumed they were all zombie bodies. It was a depressing thought.

We finally reached the end after having no luck in any of the rooms. It all seemed very odd. Was there only one doctor here? Because there wasn't another soul in sight.

I scanned the key card next to the locked door. The little light turned green, and the door clicked open. Slowly, I pushed it. There was no way of knowing what was behind this door, but if it was just the Doc in there, I'm pretty sure we could take him-or her, whatever. They would be dead meat-mmm meat.

I peeked my head through and all I could see were six large white curtains pulled shut just like in a hospital ward. From the very end of the room I could hear tapping, like a shoe tapping on a lino floor. What the heck was going on down here? It was like a freaking house of horrors.

We quietly approached the last curtain on the left, the one where the tapping was coming from. Meg was right behind me with a knife in hand, and I had my knuckle duster and key card ready for action. Then in one swift motion I pulled back the curtain to reveal...
