CHAPTER THIRTEEN: HIS EYES
"my feelings... your feelings... we're both weird."
When you fall in love, people react differently. But in her case, she was naive and ignorant of the fact that the man she loves is into someone else, and that someone else is not her. And although this is the truth, a painful one, she is still willing to do everything in her power to make him look her way.
But of course, it didn't work. She knew she had to give up someday, and she did. But just because she gave up, does not mean she has fully moved on. It doesn't take overnight to move on from someone you loved for years, it takes months or even years---even forever, to move on.
"Ayaw mo ba talaga, bhe?" her mom asked, patting her back.
A sigh escapes from her lips and proceeds to smile at her mother whose face is full of concern with her daughter's actions these days. Charlotte places her pen on top of her paper and nods.
"Kailangan 'kong mag-aral, pasensya na po." she answers.
"Di mo ba gustong makita si--"
"Mom, I'm really busy." she quickly interrupts her mom's question.
It is the time for her to study for entrance exams, she's doing this for herself and to distract her on her mind instead of thinking about someone she misses. It's hard, it's really hard. She knew it's never going to be easy, but it still hurts and she hates herself for even falling for him this hard.
"Hays... sige na nga. Text ka na lang na'min kung uuwi na kami, okay?" her mom smiles back, patting her daughter's head this time.
And when her parents finally left, she quickly finishes the bottle of wine she had bought for herself as someone who just turned eighteen a few months ago. She didn't have any time to enjoy it because she was planning her birthday party, thinking that date with Timothy would be perfect.
"Huh, how ridiculous."
She almost cursed, throwing the bottle of wine on the floor in anger and sadness.
Charlotte was known for her calm nature, she is calm and she is not someone who uses her own emotions for her decisions but instead, she uses her mind and her heart. She didn't want to be selfish, only when it comes to Timothy. But even that didn't work, huh?
She wanted to hate him so she could quickly move on. But it didn't work too.
So how... is she going to get through this? This scar he left inside her fragile, broken, heart.
It's painful not to see him, but it's just going to be harder for her if she sees him again. This time, she's not doing this for him, but for herself.
For a future Charlotte Louise Salvador who does not exist for a Timothy Nakamoto.
For weeks, months, she's been trying hard to avoid him and to stop thinking about him. She didn't expect this to be painful at all. And the point that's the most painful for her is to not see him again. How long will she have to suffer from his name? From his face? From every memory of them together inside her head?
How long?

Ang una 'kong ginawa pagpasok ko sa loob ng apartment ko ay humiga. I'm too tired, pagod na pagod ako. I have never been this tired, maybe I'm not tired physically but emotionally. Tsinek ko pa ang sarili ko sa salamin bago ako humiga just in case may mga luhang lumalabas mula sa mga mata ko.
