The entire day went so extremely slow. It felt like every class was an eternity. But finally, after what seemed like forever, lunch came around.
I was really glad it was lunch because that meant that I would get to see Lexi. It seems like so long since I've actually gotten to have a real conversation with her in person. I guess I've just been so wrapped up in all of this stuff with Nate and Maddy that I haven't really gotten to see her lately.
The bell rang after the fourth period, which meant it was time for lunch. I walked from algebra class to the cafeteria as always, keeping an eye out for Lexi. Once I spot her I walk up to go say hi.
"Oh my god, Lexi, there you are! I've been wanting to talk to you so badly the whole day!" I exclaim.
"Yeah, me too. I heard Maddy flipped out on you in the parking lot this morning," she says concerned.
"Yeah... she's really mad at me," I say.
We walked over to our usual lunch table, set our stuff down, and went into the lunch line.
"I don't understand though," Lexi said. "What's she even mad about? It's not like you could have known she was lying to him about it," she explains.
"Tell me about it. The whole thing's so stupid. It's all just a big misunderstanding," I say.
"Maddy even had the nerve to come up to me and accuse you of trying to steal her boyfriend," she says with disgust.
"Really? What did you say?" I ask.
"I just told her how that's ridiculous, and you would never try to do something like that," Lexi says.
"Oh, good. Because I would never do that to a friend," I say defensively.
"I know that. Maddy on the other hand..." Lexi trails off. "Well, what are you going to do about it?" she asks me.
"Well, I may not have handled things the best..." I say
"What do you mean?" she asks curiously.
"I may or may not have decided to hang out with Nate after school today," I say hesitantly.
Lexi gives a look of pure shock on her face.
"Oh my god, I can't believe you're actually going on a date!" Lexi says excitedly. "Although, I definitely didn't picture your first boyfriend to be Nate Jacobs," she says processing what I just told her.
"Nate is NOT my boyfriend! This isn't even a date. All he asked was if I wanted to 'hang out' with him after school," I tell her.
"Okay, Okay... I'm just excited that you might actually get some action in your life for once," Lexi says rubbing her shoulder on mine jokingly.
"Oh shut up. We're just friends," I say laughing.
"Okay," Lexi says, still suspicious of me.
We got all of our food and went to go sit at our table where we sit alone. We used to have Rue sit by us too, but when she stopped being our friend she sat at a table alone, and it was just the two of us. Although so far this year Rue has been sitting by the new girl Jules. The one that Nate was a jerk to at the party.
That actually reminds me that I need to talk to her and try to be her friend. Then again, I wouldn't want to mess things up between her and Rue. Rue needs a friend now more than ever, and I wouldn't want to be the one to take that away from her.
"We need more friends," I say.
"What do you mean," Lexi asks.
"We look like two losers, sitting at a table all alone," I answer.
