"So are you going to McKay's party tonight?" Lexi asks (Lexi Howard, my best friend in the whole wide world).

"I don't really know, I mean it's not like I don't miss everyone. I just don't really feel like being around a bunch of drunk, horny teenagers. Like every time I go to a party, guys are always trying to hook up, or get me wasted so they can take advantage of me. And it's not like I ever do hook up with them, but it's just annoying having to politely tell boys that I don't want to have sex with them, even though they're  total jerks every other minute of their lives," I answer.

"Then just tell them to get the hell away from you, but not so politely. I find it to be much more fun that way," Lexi laughs.

"I know. I wish I had that kind of confidence. But unfortunately, I worry way too much and don't want to hurt anyone's feeling," I say.

"Yeah, I know you're just too nice. To be honest, I am too most of the time. But usually, when I go to party's, I always get just drunk enough to not give a shit. Haha... But you should come anyway. I mean McKay only throws an end of summer party once a year, and you wouldn't want to be the one kid at school, that's not a complete outcast at least, that doesn't go. And think of all the drama you would miss if you didn't go... Aren't you the least bit curious to see what Nate and Maddy are going to do to each other? Like they've been fighting all summer long, which isn't necessarily unusual for them. But the entire summer is a pretty long time for them to not even be on speaking terms. Usually, they fight for a couple of weeks and get back to making out in the middle of the hallways the next day," she says.

"Oh please... I love Maddy, but I really couldn't care less about her and Nate's relationship," I counter.

"Okay you say that now, but I know you better than anyone. You love a good Nate and Maddy throw down just as much as the next person at East Highland. Just come for at least a little bit to catch up with everyone. And if any boys try to hook up with you, I will personally rip their dicks off so hard they won't even be able to cry about it!" We both laugh for like five minutes straight.

"Well, I suppose I wouldn't mind seeing Nate and Maddy fight like old times. So I'll go... BUT, I will be taking you up on your offer if needed," I say.

"Okay, will do," Lexi barely manages to get out between our laughing.

I check my phone for the time. "Oh my god, it's 1:00 already. I have to be at dance class in 20 minutes, and I'm not even dressed," I say, frantically gathering up my purse, phone, and car keys.

"Oh shoot, I totally forgot you had dance class. Well, why don't I come over to your house at 8 and we can get ready for the party together?" Lexi suggests.

"Umm... yeah sure that works I guess," I holler after her, making my way down Lexi's stairs so I can go put my shoes on. I try to process the time Lexi suggested as times and dates swirl around my brain. Finally, I make it to the foyer and hurry, slipping my shoes on. I pause making a realization. "Wait. Did you say 8 o'clock?" I ask Lexi as she follows down after me in a rush.

"Uh yeah, is that a problem? I thought your dance class was over at 5."

"Yeah, it is, but 8 o'clock is awfully late to just start getting ready for the party? I mean I was thinking we would get home around 10."

"10!!??" she says as if I just asked who her favorite singer is (Which of course would be Taylor Swift, because we've been huge Swifties since she was still making country music.) "Are you crazy? The party doesn't even start until 9. And it's not like you can just show up the moment the party starts, or else we would be complete losers," she explains.

"Okay okay, sorry I just wasn't planning on being out that late," Once I say this I finally remember that I'm in a hurry and need to get to dance class before my teacher gets angry with me. So I continue putting my shoes on from where I left off before I was distracted by my conversation with Lexi. Just as soon as I finish getting my shoes on, after which seems like an eternity, Cassie (Lexi's older sister) walked in through the door nearly bumping into me since I was standing by the door almost ready to head out.
