starting a new week at school, but this time, as you walk through the hallways to try and find the science lab, there's a sinking feeling in your stomach. you can't help but think it's going to be hard to face kuroo - after the incident on friday, you hadn't spoken to him since.
he probably has a million questions about who that boy was, but you're not sure if you're ready to give him the answers just yet.
as you swing open the lab door and walk inside, you notice an empty seat next to lev, without a moment of hesitation, you drop your stuff on the desk and sit down on his left. he looks at you, confusion written all over his face - "aren't you gonna sit next to kuroo?"
you glance behind you to see him enter the classroom and sit next to kenma. "nah, he'll be fine." lev scratches his head, "but you always sit together, did something happen?" you shake your head and give him a small smile, "everything's fine. we just . . . i just wanted to . . ." you trail off so lev decides not to push further.
lol no this is lev he isn't smart enough to not push it any further. the boy turns to you, "you know he really likes you right?" you sigh, "i don't know, i think i messed it up." he rests his chin on the palm of his hands, "you could do your absolute worst and he'd still like you, y/n. you can see it in his eyes - and yours too, you love him as much as he loves you."
"look at lev being such a poetic big boy," you tease. he flushes red and huffs, "y/nnn stoppp! i was just tryna help!" laughing, you stand up to go and get a beaker for your experiment. the supply room is small, so it doesn't take you long to figure out the beakers are on the top shelf.
basically - the only shelf in the whole room you can't reach.
"i hate tall people." you try to reach for it, balancing on the tips of your toes, your fingers graze over the glass, but you aren't able to grab ahold of it. just as you're about to turn around and ask the teacher for help, an arm reaches out behind you and swiftly grabs it from the top shelf, you spin around to see kuroo's lazy grin.
"you hate tall people, huh?" he dangles the beaker above your head and you reach for it, "it's made of glass, you'll break it!" he dramatically frowns, "like you broke my heart with that statement, i'm tall too!" clicking your tongue, you swipe the beaker from his hands and frown at his behavior.
it's so normal, as if nothing happened on friday - as if you didn't break down in front of him. and it shouldn't, but it irritates you, how he can act like nothing ever happened while you feel so exposed. you hate when other people see you cry.
"don't you have any questions?" you look up at him, eyebrows furrowed. he blinks, that lazy grin still painted on his lips, "questions about what?" you rub your thumb over the beaker, "questions about friday, that boy, aren't you curious? disappointed?" he shrugs, "'course i'm curious - but i'm not going to talk about it if you don't want to."
"and why would i be disappointed? crying doesn't make us weak y/n, it makes us human." kuroo stays sternly. you try to hold back the massive grin which threatens to spill out onto your lips as the bedhead pulls you into his embrace.
all this time, you were worried he'd judge you for being weak, that he'd be disappointed and creeped out, that things would be awkward between the two of you and that he didn't want to be your friend any longer.
"you're always telling me that i'm an idiot, n/n." he quietly mumbles into your hair, "but you're just as stupid as me." you're about to say something when the door to the storage room suddenly opens and lev stands there, a smirk on his face.
"OoOOoOH- what were you guys doing in there all alone for the last five minutes~?" you contemplate throwing the beaker at his annoying ass but decide against it, staying in kuroo's arms - because as you look up at kuroo's golden eyes you realise that (for once in his life) lev was right about something;
