"FINALLY! GET IN,"

kuroo invites you in, you quickly turn on your heels and wave haru goodbye, the brunette smirking at you and wiggling his eyebrows. he drives away when the black haired boy closes his front door.

"what took you so long?" kuroo hisses, taking your damp coat and hanging it up on the coat rack next to the door. wriggling your feet out of your shoes, you huff.

"there's traffic, it's a friday night and the weathers shit." you roll your eyes, pulling your sleeves up and dusting off your pants. "now where're your parents?"

"dining room. listen to me," the boy reaches for your frame, setting his hands onto your shoulders and pulling you close so he can whisper into your ear (in case his parents hear him!) "you need to play pretend really well, y/n. act like you love me and we're endgame because i told them we've been dating for a while now."

"but don't they know we're just friends?" you query, raising an eyebrow as he shakes his head at you.

"no, i told them you confessed to me a few months ago and that we've been keeping it low key which is why you've not come over yet as my formal girlfriend." he explains, grabbing your wrist and leading you to his parents.

"you owe me." you mumble under your breath when his mother catches sight of you, her golden eyes light up and an amused chuckle slips past her glossy lips.

"y/n!" she exclaims, when you take a seat in the chair kuroo pulls out for you to try acting like a gentleman.

you return her smile and dip your head out of respect, "hi mrs k! how have you been?" you reach out for a fork on the table and tetsurou swiftly grabs ahold of your hand, taking it into his.

you smile, turning to the cocky boy and glaring at him. he only smirks in response, raising an eyebrow in amusement when you try to pull away subtly.

the woman laughs, taking a sip of her champagne and sniffling. "it's been boring i won't lie to ya, life gets repetitive when you grow old like me, dear."

"no ma'am, you're so beautiful for your age." you respond truthfully, you can't help but compare her features to her son's and find a sense of familiarity within her warm smile.

"you flatter me, y/n!" she chuckles, twirling a strand of her dark hair around her fingers as she glances at you through her beautiful eyelashes. "how old do you think i look?"

kuroo's dad snorts and his wife hits his shoulder, frowning. "what are you laughing at? i'm not the bald one here!"

"hey!" me kuroo instinctively reaches for the wig of healthy, black hair on his head and pouts, "why did you tell my son and his girlfriend i'm bald?¿ what was the reason¿?"

"no reason, now hush and let me have this." she turns back to you, "so how do i look? you were saying?"

you feel kuroo's dangly ass legs brush against yours and kick him back, hard. this sly bitch, i bet that was on purpose, you think.

(you try to ignore the fact that you accidentally ended up kicking his dad instead, when the old man goes rigid and suddenly hisses in pain when his eyes tear up. you probably broke a bone.)

"well,, you're practically glowing." you respond, not really knowing how to answer when she puts you on the spot. "especially for a fifty year old woman."

"...🙂"

"pFFFT—" her husband spits out his drink and hunches over the table, laughing. "NOOO SHE THINKS YOURE FIFTY STOP." he wheezes, desperately in need of air and banging a fist on the table.

you turn to your 'boyfriend' sitting next to you, who seems to desperately trying not to laugh because his face is red, lips curved into a quivering smile and his cheeks are puffed out.

"i don't understand." you fret, sparing a glance at the woman seated in front of you, who is still passive aggressively smiling, staring into the distance as her husband dies of laughter. "did i say something funny?"

"y/n, y,, you idiot." kuroo sobs, finally letting out his stifled laughter and leaning onto your shoulder to support himself as his shoulders shake. "you fucking idiot — my mum is thirty eight, not fucking fifty."

"oh shit." you turn back to her when kuroo settles down a bit, his head is still resting on your shoulder though, but mr kuroo gets up and leaves the table to go drink water and calm himself down.

"i'm sorry." you apologise to tetsurou's mum, a sinking feeling in your stomach at the thought of his mother not liking you due to your lack of ... sense? manners?? class??? she looks fifty, i didn't do it on purpose, you can't help but think, eyeing her features again.

"yes." the women closes her eyes, still grinning at you. a shiver goes down your spine at her expression and the boy besides you tugs on your arm to lead you away from the table, you can't help but cringe.

what a fucking mess.
