Toya and Xian had settled down by the time the sun went around, night starting to fall. They had binged the entirety of a K-drama and both of them were about ready to drop dead.

'The question is, do I cook or do we order in?' Xian mumbled, scrolling through Netflix to find something to watch, lying his head on a pillow seated on top of Toya's lap.

'I prefer your cooking,' Toya also mumbled, snatching the remote out of Xian's hand and attempting to put on a horror movie.

'Yeah, but can I be bothered?' Xian snatched the remote back, keen on watching a cute anime.

'Yes you can, now give me the remote,' Toya growled, reaching to grab the remote from Xian's hand but failing as the boy held it out of his reach.

'My house, my rules you freeloader,' Xian tutted, giving the boy a smirk.

'You're not going to have a house in a second if you don't give me the remote.' Toya growled, getting more aggressive as he grabbed Xian's arm and forced his hand open.

'Where the hell are you going to go then?' Xian ripped his arm out of Toya's grip, hitting Toya on the head with the said remote before going back to scrolling. Toya gave up, pushing Xian off his lap.

'Tch, if you make food I'll let you choose a show for us to watch.' Xian looked at Toya, contemplating whether or not he would take him up on the offer.

'What do you want to eat?'

Toya smiled a little, dropping the remote to the side and leaning back. 'As long as it's meat I don't care,'

Xian rolled his eyes and got up, walking towards the kitchen. 'As long as you eat all of your vegetables,' Xian called out, taking the ingredients out of his fridge and pantry.

'What am I, 12?' Toya growled.

'Yes actually,' Xian pulled out the chopping board and began cutting up vegetables, chucking them in a wok with water and a fuck tonne of spices and flavouring, pouring in the broth generously. He then pulled out the udon noodles, cutting open the top of the packet and putting them in the broth to simmer on low heat. His favourite part about udon noodles was that they came already basically ready to eat so all he had to do was let them sit.

He then whipped out another pan and poured a little bit of the broth from the pot in there, the metal heating up in his hands and the liquid sizzling. He took out a small slab of beef, putting it on the pan and searing it on either side as it absorbed the flavouring from the broth.

'Ok, let those cook, time to add the fun stuff,' Xian pulled out the narutomaki, amongst other toppings and started chopping them up, leaving the fish cake, spring onions, celery bits to the side as the broth started bubbling.

'Eggs, eggs, eggs... where the fuck are the eggs?!'

'Side shelf at the top dumbass,' Toya called out from the other room, entertained by Xian having half to no clue what he was doing.

'I knew that.'

Xian took out the two eggs, putting them on the side of the table and taking the beef out of the pan, sliding it into the broth that was cooking, adding a glob of butter along with it to fatten up the liquid.

He grabbed the two eggs and cracked them into the pan. He then carefully picked up the yolk out of the egg white, a weird thing that eggs in japan could do, putting the two in a small dish for later.

He took the time spent waiting for the egg whites to cook and took out two bowls, putting the udon in the bowl first, and then using a ladle, poured the broth and vegetables on top of the noodles, avoiding picking up the meat.
