CHAPTER 21

It was morning and day three into our journey after leaving from Parissas's cottage, and it wasn't long before we reached the rendezvous point at the Two Headed Serpent, where lies the beginnings of the Serpent river.

A man, who sat leaning on a large tree, was casually pealing, what looked like, some kind of fruit.
He quickly got up and came towards us.

He was a tall middle-aged man, with lean muscles exhibiting from his sleeveless leather tunic. He was completely bald with a long thin black beard hanging over his broad chest.

His sword swang loosely around his waist, while taking every stride with confidence. His deep scar wounds on his arms , looked like he'd seen many battles.

"Ah, Welcome friends!" Said Solomon while giving Robert a brief nod. He then turned and gave a big smile to Sheanna.

"Hello Solomon, it's been far too long since you last paid us a visit to our village, how have you been?" Said Sheanna thrilled and happy to see him.

" I know, I know!" Said Solomon, shaking his head and shrugging his shoulders. " With the crazy goings-on around here lately, it's lucky that you see me at all, but when an old friend asks for help I'm always eager to help....And how is my old friend, Parissa by the way?" He said, his smile suddenly fading, as he turned towards Robert.

" I think she's planning for war! A war that's not here yet, but you know,  that's my sister for you! Always looking on the bright side of life." Robert said, somewhat sarcastically.

Solomon snorted with a smile, but then turned more serious.

"Why on earth did you have to turn yourself back to this...Demon from the underworld?" Said Solomon flicking his hand at Robert's, charcoal-leather, body. "Have you not seen enough bad blood by wearing this black carcass of a vessel ...?Old friend!"

" Now now Solomon, no need for accusations , and I definitely don't need to explain my regretful years to you, those days are over now. Besides, my human form went and died on me, so get used to this!" Said Robert, fanning a quick hand gesture to his body .

" Anyway, here I am committed to helping my sister out, which unfortunately for me, includes you and your little merry band of old fools!" Said Robert, sarcastically.

Solomon shook his head smiling.

"Oh, where are my manners!" Said Sheanna " I assume you are the guide who will help them get to Zonia?" She said, trying to introduce Solomon to the rest of the company .

Solomon's eyes then fell towards my brother and myself.

" It's a shame we had to meet in such circumstances, but may I ask if you are related to...." Solomon suddenly cut himself off from finishing the sentence.

He turned his head slowly to his left and to his right, listening intensely. Then quickly turned to me and said.

"I assume you to be the young Norak...is that correct?" Solomon asked hurriedly

"Yes!" I said, nodding." What is it ?" I asked, then looked at my companions, as they all shrugged their shoulders.

"I have no time to explain but please trust me when I tell you there is a small group of heavily armed enemy scouts, just beyond the trees. Get your weapons out and be ready. Sheanna, my apologies, but you must take them across the Serpent River, towards the high ridge! Do you know where I mean?"

I looked over to Sheanna, and saw she looked concerned, but simply nodded. Then from the side of my eye, I saw Solomon stretched out grabbing my arm, and simply said .
