CHAPTER 7

I felt a breeze brush my skin, pulling me out of sleep in this restless long night, as the
torches continued dancing their crazy shadows on the walls.
Thick metal bars coming down the ceiling surrounded the square cage on three sides.

The heavy rattles of a metal door opening near by, got my attention, heavy uneven footsteps, helped by a metal walking stick, slowly descended the rock stairway. In his other hand was a heavy grain bag, swaying side to side.

"How's our new addition to our stock?" Asked the man, who they all call ' The Master '

"He's been stirring the whole night, my lord." Said one of the two guards.

The guardsman looked over
at his fellow comrade. "He even tried to break open the bars of the cage...." He snorted in amusement, then quickly looked away wiping the grin off his face.

" Hmm...I see." Said the Master, not amused, as he glared at me, eyes cold as ice, stroking his grey stubbled chin."Has he tried communicating yet?"

" Not even a grunt , my lord." He said, turning his head to hide a giggle.

"All right! leave us!" He half barked.

"My lord...? Queried the same guardsman.

"Both of you, leave the room now!" His voice, coarse and deep, seemed capable of commanding an army.

He waited until he heard the main door at the top of the stairs, close behind them.

He turned to me again, his face scrunched inquisitive. "You look somewhat different from the others." He said, staring.
"Never seen a hybrid creature before...Especially half human!"

My blood instantly boiled, as I shook the cage bars, rattling the hinges to deafening ears.

"So you do anderstand...! That's good! But no need to get touchy, we're not all bad! He said, still stroking his chin, as he glared right at me.

"The witch, who helped you escape from the Tinman's grasp... Fell straight into my hands, late in the night...! He said swinging the heavy content of the bag.
He then flipped it over letting out its load, rolling out on to the shadows of the concrete floor, hitting the iron bars to a sudden halt. The sound of metal, echoing in my ears , sent a shiver down my spine.

"This..." He continued. "Is a small demonstration on what I will do to the witch, and her niece, if you refuse my request!"

I  raised myself up to get a closer look at what lay in the shadows.

My stomach tightened, sickened by the gruesome sight,as blood still trickled slowly from the severed arteries .
At closer inspection, I recognised the scar on the right side of the face.
It seemed the assassin's fate was sealed as soon as Nara had hired him.

Just the idea that any information Parissa has, in finding my brothers, were now probably dashed.

My adrenaline began to pump , as my fear turned to anger, and I felt my blood rushing through my veins. I grabbed the thick bars of the cell and pulled with all my might.

"Woah..!What are you trying to? guards!" He shouted, almost falling backwards.

The door squeaked on its metal hinges as the guards were quick, missing the last three flight of steps.

To his utter shock, I managed to pull the bars apart, squeezed through, and quickly grabbed his puny neck.

"Why did you have to do that?" I bellowed like thunder, wishing I had the lightning to come with it. "What have you done to Parissa?"
