❝ The blood never leaves your skin. ❞
☽ ✰ ☾
Somehow, Luna managed to get home without waking anyone up, but instead of going to her room, she locked herself inside the bathroom. Similarly to the first nights she spent in Beacon Hills, her hands were covered in blood. The walls weren't grey as blood was splattered all over the painting. And as she looked into the mirror, Luna's vision flickered between her tired features and the bloody face from that night. From outside the window, the moon's silvery glow shone down on her, though it did nothing to ease her fear of the darkness.
"It's over," Luna repeated under her breath. It was like a mantra now. "You didn't kill her. Her death is not on you. There's no more blood on your hands. It's all in your head."
Hesitantly, she raised her head. Horror filled her chest as her surroundings remained bloody and sombre. Luna stepped away from the sink, her hand going over her mouth as a sob racked through her body. Green eyes stared right back at the girl, eyes which she refused to admit belonged to her. The neon green that her family seemed to loathe more than their sworn enemies despite who it associated with. A colour so bright and full of life, some could doubt it was in Luna's stare. It represented her long ago, but not now that she had become a monster.
In her panic, Luna began to wonder if her father was right. Though he never said it aloud, Marco Calavera's thoughts were evident to his daughter. Luna knew he believed her to be a monster, a creature of the night, even though she feared the darkness. Maybe his unspoken words weren't false. Maybe everything she had done — voluntarily or not — turned her into something dangerous. After all, she did have demon blood in her veins.
The sun had risen outside when the girl's vision stopped flickering between the past and present. Birds sang their morning song as Luna took a cold shower, staring at her feet to ensure no ruby-like liquid tainted the water. It was a relief when she stepped out of the shower and saw the room as it usually was: bloodless. Her phone vibrated with notifications on the counter. After doing her hair, Luna picked it up. Her eyes widened at the message sent by Scott saying that Derek had been arrested.
Accepting the call from the boy, she quickly walked down the hallway to her room. Lukas asked her a question she didn't bother answering, her curiosity taking the best of her. Luna just hoped Scott wouldn't mention her strange behaviour from seeing the body.
"I hope you did not accuse Derek of murder," Luna spoke as she looked through her closet for something to wear. "You got no proof."
"Were you there while we dug up the body?" Stiles asked despite Scott's protests. "Oh, that's right, you were having a mental breakdown and saying you killed her. What was that even about?"
