Chapter 7

I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and picked up my phone. 4:45 AM. Someone better have a good reason as to why I was up this early.

"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I swear, it wasn't my fault. Please, don't leave me alone!" I heard someone screaming from the other room.

I hopped out of bed and walked into Will's room, where the yelling was coming from. I saw Will, sweating and shaking in his bed. He was mumbling quietly. I sat on the edge of his bed and put my hand on his shoulder.

"Wake up Will. Wake up," I said, shaking his shoulder. He shook awake and sat up abruptly.

"Where am I?" he asked. I guess he forgot that he was staying at my house. It was the first time he'd been in this room anyways.

"At my house. In the guest room," I said.

"I was dreaming," he said. Will seemed to forget a lot of what happened before the nightmares. He always woke up confused and disoriented.

"Yeah, what was it about?" I asked. Everytime I asked, and every time he said he would tell me tomorrow. I guess today was no different because the next thing I know, he's saying exactly the same thing, "I'll tell you tomorrow, I don't want to ruin the moment," he says.

I gave him a glass of water and a quick hug, before leaving the room. I got settled back in my bed and drifted off to sleep.

I stretched my arms up above me and picked up my phone. 7:15, and time for me to get up. I pulled myself out of the bed and let out a little yelp before quickly rearranging my feet. I looked at the sleeping figure on my floor and sighed.

"Will?" I asked.

"Yeah?" he said sleepily, still half asleep.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, fine."

"Why are you sleeping on my floor?" I asked.

"What?" he sat up and looked around my room, then he looked down,"I couldn't sleep alone," he whispered.

I wonder what he dreamt about, because it had to be pretty bad, that he couldn't even sleep alone for a few hours. I decided that I was going to ask him today, no matter what. I wasn't going to back down, because I was very curious and I needed answers. I offered my hand out, and Will pulled himself up, so that he was towering over me.

"Man, I liked it better when you were sitting down, I was taller than you, for once," I complained.

"I'm not that much taller than you," Will said.

"I'm 5'6, and you look like your 6'1 or something," I pointed out.

"5'11," he corrected.

"Yeah, whatever, you're still five inches taller than me, and I don't like it. I hate being shorter than people," I said.

"Whatever," Will said and walked downstairs. Matt, Mason, Chris, and Asher were already down. They were whispering quietly but stopped when I walked in.

"Whatcha guys whispering about?" I inquired.

"Nothing, just soccer," Chris said.

"Mason hates soccer," I said.

"Yes, exactly, that's what he was whispering about, why Mason should like soccer more," Matt said. This was getting really weird.

"Okay," I said slowly. I walked over to the pantry and got some cereal out for us. We started eating and playing on our phones. After a bit, I realized that the five of them were texting each other, and Liz, probably, without me.
