Chapter 3

I looked at my feet and groaned. I had been teaching the younger kids and was doing a grand jete, when I landed wrong and fell. I was in the hospital now, I had a broken ankle. I hadn't broken any bones since fourth grade when I fell off the swings, and broke my leg.

"Honey, you keep groaning. Do you need something?' my mom asked.

"When do I get out of here?" I asked her.

"As soon as you get changed," my mom said.

I attempted to put on my shirt and realized it was on backwards. Dammit, I thought angrily. I was never going to get out of here. I managed to put all of my clothes on correctly and grabbed my crutches. I was basically a master at using crutches, because of all the times I had to go into work or school with a sprained or fractured ankle. I walked to the waiting room, where my dad and Liz were waiting.

"Are you going to be at school tomorrow?" Liz asked.

"Probably. I've sprained my ankle enough to be fine with going to school with a broken one," I told her.

"Okay, I've gotta meet up with Matt to figure some things out about Max's party, but you'll be there, right?" she asked.

"Yeah, I should be there. But text me the details since no one told me," I told her.

"Will do. Bye Ray!" Liz said and walked out of the hospital.

The rest of my friends had already met up with me, but Liz volunteered to stay with me. Even Will stayed with me for a while. Will's match, the first one that I had gone to, was great. He was fast and strong, so he could get in a lot of hits without getting hurt himself. He had came out of the fight with 2 bruises and a bloody nose. I had cleaned them up for him, then I had driven him home.

"Come on honey. We can leave now," my dad said.

I walked out of the hospital, with my crutches, so it was more like limping, and got in the car. We drove home and I checked my phone.

From: William the Bear

I have one of the biggest matches tomorrow. Want to come?

From: Ray the Koala

Yeah, I'd love to

From: William the Bear

I'll pick you up at 7, and we can go out for dinner, k?

From: Ray the Koala

Ok, I'll see you tomorrow!

We had exchanged numbers earlier and we came up with animal names for each other. I had came up with Bear, because it reminded me of the color of his eyes. Mine was Koala, partly because I had begged him not to. I checked the date, it was October 15, which meant two days until Max's birthday and that I had to get a costume for Halloween. Lizzie usually hosted a party for our group of friends, plus anyone that we wanted to invite. I didn't really invite anyone, but I was thinking about inviting Will. I mean, he probably already has plans but it couldn't hurt to invite him. When my dad pulled into the driveway, I hopped out and and walked, slowly to my room. I laid on my bed, and wondered what I should do. I wasn't supposed to do anything that was going to strain my foot, but I didn't want to sit around and do nothing. I turned on the TV and popped in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I loved the first movie more, but I didn't feel like crying over Bucky today.  I popped myself some popcorn and watched the movie.

"Just because your foot's busted doesn't mean you can sit here, watching Marvel movies and ignoring my calls and texts," Liz said.
