Chapter One

I groaned as my alarm rang. "Backseat Serenade" by All Time Low started blaring, and I rolled over, only to fall off my bed. I grabbed my phone, checked the time, to make sure I was on time. I wasn't going to start my day off like those cliche books, where the girl runs late and meets the bad boy, then they fall in love, because I wasn't going to be part of a cliche. I was going to be myself. I was going to be Rayna. I picked myself up, off the floor, and made sure all of my bones were working. I walked to the bathroom and got dressed, before walking downstairs to eat some breakfast. I met my brother. He was annoying as hell. I grabbed an apple and went out to my car. I drove to school and walked to my locker. I saw my best friends, Chris, Matt, and Liz.

"Hey guys, long time no see," I joked, even though we had seen each other last night.

"Hey Ray," all three of my friends chorused back to me.

"Have you seen the guys this year? They're hot, so hot," Liz said.

"Like me?" Matt said, flexing his muscles.

"You are so ugly," Liz said.

We talked for a while before we headed off to class. I was an overly friendly person, I wasn't quiet or shy at all, so whenever there was a new student, I always had to talk to them and make sure they were comfortable. I heard that there was four new students, so I had to make sure all of them were happy with this scool, even though they probably weren't going to be. Greenwood High School, the most boring high school on planet earth, was completely ordinary. There was nothing special about it, nothing at all. I sat in a seat near the back of the class. The teacher, Mr. Colt, was the most boring teacher ever, so I just sat through the class, taking some notes when needed. I did the same until lunch, where I ran into one of the new kids, named Asher. He was a typical cocky "bad boy," even though he done nothing wrong, I could tell he was going to do something bad, like superglue a teacher's butt to the seat. He was nice though, aside from his ego. I bought a chicken sandwich and sat down with my friends. I invited Asher to sit with us, and he agreed and immediately hit it off with Chris. I talked with Liz about a party on Friday and what we were going to wear.

My last class of the day, Biology, finally. I sat down next to a guy with brown hair, a lip ring, and warm chocolate eyes. He was wearing black skinny jeans and a red flannel, with Supras, which were my favorite type of shoes, after converse. I immediately liked him. I recognized him from somewhere but I couldn't remember where.

"Can I help you?" The mystery boy asked.

"No, no sorry," I said quickly after realizing that I was staring.

He chuckled and focused on the teacher, who was talking about random crap. The bell rang after an hour of torture. I sprang out of my seat and walked to my locker. I was going to meet up with Matt and his twin brother, Mason at Jungle Juice, our favorite place for smoothies. I saw Chris and Liz talking to Asher across the hallway so I ran over to them.

"Hey guys," I said,

"Hey, we were just going to make plans to watch the soccer game tomorrow, wanna watch with?" Chris siad,

"Yeah, of course. Text me the time and I'll be there but I really need to leave right now. I'm meeting Mason and Matt at Jungle Juice," I said.

They all said bye to me and I left the school, driving to my favorite smoothie place. I walked in and saw Mase and Matt sitting at a table, playing on their phones. I walked over and sat down.

"Hey Ray," Mase greeted because Matt hadn't even noticed I was here. Matt looked up and we decided to order our smoothies. After we got our drinks, I started talking.
