Finally everything was settled in Rome. These were crazy six months since we came here. Starting up a new life is no easy. The good thing was that we had roots in Rome so we still could manage things.

I reopened the jewelry business of my grandfather. We still had his boutique shop just that it wasn't in business. Caprice renovated it completely giving it a new bohemian look. Ric and I have finally got in the place the website for the business, the vendors and contractors for the gems and the branding. We are looking forward to franchise it too. With Enzo there we had a good market in New York too. So business is pretty much set up.

Sophia too has started working. She is a great chef so she has opened this little coffee shop which basically has the desserts along with coffee and few other quick snacks. It do not have a lot of sitting. The setup is small and cute but she is happy.

Leaving Mafia was not easy. My terms with FBI did help me take an exit but its not like I have the clean chit from the law. A new Don is in town still I am a criminal. Roscoe said that instead of being the fugitive on the run I should fake my death. So that's what I did. I had to loose one private jet for it. We had to frame a crash on the day we left to Italy to fake my the death along with Ric and Sophia. It is reported that we drowned in the sea because of the crash while we took a commercial airlines with different passports. Its not like that the Mafia cartels we were associated to believe it but atleast the law enforcement of New York believes it. Now we cannot enter USA atleast not with the same identity. Though I haven't have any terms with the Mafia business anymore but that doesn't mean people who have the connects do not recognize me as the Don or rather the ex-Don. Also few older families and people here know why my family moved to New York. They are not completely hostile but yet I could get the vibes from some of them that they are scared and want to keep distance. It's not a problem for me but Sophia gets tensed sometimes thinking of Laeila's future. She do not want Laeila to know what we were into when she grows up. She teaches us all sorts of morals and ethics. Our Mom taught us these too. I don't know if we can keep her safe from the shadows of the Mafia, because you know past always comes back to you and even though Enzo comes here to visit us yet there is a fact we can't ignore, that Alysia and Charles are there and we do need to visit them sometime in future. We need to explain her the fake passports then. Plus she has a home there. I transferred that house in her name. That's why I want her to know everything but Sophia is not on board on this and we try not to surpass each other when it comes to Laeila.

We visited Sophia's parents' grave before coming here. She never get to visit her Dad after that her mom left. My parents are here in the family crypt but she really did miss her Dad but never say anything. In those three years I tried to pull some connections and finally with the help of Roscoe we got to know that Jennifer Richmond died few years back. I wanted her to find out about her. She might not say, but that was an unsaid last strand. It was sad that instead of making her meet her mom like I thought when I started the search, I had to give her the news about her mother. She OD'd and the death was reported by the same guy with whom she left. He loved her enough to get her buried next to Sophia's Dad but he never tried to find Sophia or Charles. Since her mother he is in a program trying to recover from the addiction.

"Master, ready to go?" We heard Caprice as she peeped in the study where Ric and I were sitting. "Sure love" he said and got up. They are leaving for their doctor's appointment. They are planning a baby. Though she isn't pregnant yet but they are trying to consult the doctors for planning the pregnancy to avoid as much complications as they can.

We have more cozy home here. It's not like the big mansion we had in New York, it's more of a small Villa with a courtyard. Not too small, and not too big either. It's sufficient and has a rustic infrastructure which I like, with a mix of modern look with Ric likes. Like it has big glass windows in the living room and basically all the rooms. Sophia misses the pond and the shack but she is satisfied with the garden we have here. It has ample of space for Laeila to play and she does play a lot. I wonder if she ever gets tired. I get tired too much playing with her, but she always have a new game ready before the last one ended. She loves coming to the shop too, all the jewelries makes her excited, Caprice says she will be our designer soon.
