"I'M JUST SAYING," SHRUGGED JASON AS HE GRABBED A BEER FROM THE FRIDGE. The man pushed the door shut with his boot. He took the cap off with his teeth and took a swig, squeezing his eyes shut. "do you want a vampire sucking blood out of you?
Dakota raised a dark brow at her cousin as she smoothed out her sundress. Sookie had invited Bill Compton over to their house. Adele wanted to speak to him for her church group meeting 'descendants of the glorious death'. Apparently having a vampire that was present during the civil war brought interesting topics for conversation.
"I'm just trying to get to know the man, that's all." Sookie told him as she glanced toward him from the kitchen window. The girl was all dressed up, wearing her prettiest dress, lipstick on her lips and blush covering her tanned cheeks.
"Because that's where it's gonna end up. Always does." Jason gave his sister a pointed look. Dakota rolled her eyes. He really didn't like vampires, especially not that his sister was getting involved with one.
"What do you know about vampires, anyway?" Dakota asked, ready to defend Sookie if she needed to.
"Yeah, I know a lot more than I care to."
"Oh, please, Jason." scoffed Sookie as she got up from her seat before stalking off to the front of the house. "You ain't even got enough sense to pour piss out of a boot."
"What did I say?" Jason furrowed his brows.
"You're an ass." Dakota got up as well and went into the living room, joining her grandmother who was fussing over the flowers on the table. "They look beautiful."
"Oh, thank you, child." Adele smiled, squeezing her shoulder with a bright smile. "Is it too much? I know their senses are heightened. He might think them to be too much."
"I'm sure he won't mind." Dakota reassured her as she sat down next to the fireplace. Tara and Jason followed, plopping themselves in the last two empty chairs beside her.
Sookie entered, smile on her face as she walked up to her grandmother. Bill was behind her, wearing a simple suit. He looked good, despite his pale complexion and lack of life.
"Grandma, this is Bill." Sookie introduced them. Adele gushed over him, shaking his hand in delight. Bill smiled at her before his eyes landed on the other three in the room. "You've met Jason, Dakota and Tara."
"Good to see you, again." he said sincerely.
"Please, take a seat." Adele said.
Sookie guided the vampire towards the couch and patted the seat beside her. Adele had gone to the kitchen and came back with a plate of sandwiches, handing them around the room. Jason eyed the man the entire time, taking a large bite from his food. Tara and Dakota glanced at each other, awkward silence clung in the air. The older woman stopped before Bill and offered. He declined politely.
