River POV

I was a little worried this morning, Meredith seemed very tired and had to go to a surgery, I knew she had worried over her mother, she explained to me about the Alzheimer's and she looked like she was dozing off in the middle of heart surgery.

"You know, Meredith thinks this is just going to be a little, small, meet-your-boyfriend cocktail thing. Did you clear this with her?" I heard George say.

"No, but I will," Cristina, George and I gave her a look, "I promise," she added.

"Why are you wasting the only weekend your boyfriend is in town on a big party? Is he bad in bed?" Cristina questioned.

Izzie chuckled, "No. I just want him to meet some of my friends,"

"Oh please, if I got to my fiancée right now, the only party we would be having is under the sheets," I spoke up. They gave me a look, "He is definitely good in bed," I added.

"Right ex-man whore," Cristina remembered. She then turned back to Izzie, "Right. Sixty geeks in scrubs are your friends. Bad sex, sucks for you. Jaw dropping sex, apparently good for River," she said as she got ready to leave because her pager went off. "Is it really that good?" Izzie asked me.

"I've passed out before," was my response.

"Damn," Cristina and Izzie both said. Then Alex came up as they talked about the party. I noticed at the end that Meredith looked a little startled about something.

George and I had been pulled in for a patient with Bailey and the Chief, "What do you see, George?"

"Hyper-inflated lungs, clouded with bullae, seriously diminished capacity. She must have trouble breathing," George listed off.

"River, course of action?"

"A bullectomy procedure, remove the bullae, reduce the pressure," I said.

"Says here we operated on her back in '99, so Mrs. Drake has been through this before, but talk her through it anyway. And resist the anti-smoking lecture, she feels bad enough already," the Chief said before left.

"So you think if they put pictures of these on a pack of cigarettes people would stop smoking?" George says resulting in a mean look from both Bailey and I. "I don't think it's the smoking," they both looked at me, "I don't know what it is but something seems off," I said while I looked at the image in front of me.

While George and I went into the patients, Mrs. Drake's room, "The surgery before was supposed to help, but it...it never felt right," she explained as she took her glasses off.

"Probably would have been a good idea to quit smoking," George commented and avoided my glare as a result. "I did! Four packs a day habit. Oh, it was hell," Yeah, that's a bit much, "It didn't do any damn good," she added after she got a blanket from the nurse.

"Really? Because it looked, I mean, from the damage, we all thought, except Dr.Blackburn, thought you were still smoking," George responded and Mrs. Drake gave me a look of hope before turning back to George, "Cold turkey. Five years ago. What do I get for my trouble? I still had to quit my job at the restaurant. But even sitting, it hurt," a nurse adjusted her pillow, "Nobody believed me. They all said it was in my head," Mrs. Drake finished as she looked on sadly while she finished covering her hair with the cap. "I think your right and something went wrong," I said quietly to her as she gave me a smile.

"I've seen the films. It's not all in your head," George said.

"You're right about that. Hey, come here," she motioned to us both, we both came closer, "You're both to damn young to be doctors," she said. "Hey," George started, "We're older than we look," I finished. "Do you think this is going to work this time?" she asked. I nodded while George said, "I think it's your best option."
