Zim has a tough time at the orphanage.
He rather would be on Moo-Ping 10 than in this kind of prison. Surrounded by children day and night, bullying, and hurting him whenever no one is looking. His bad disguise only makes it worse, turning him into the freak of the place. No one wanted to take him in or even tries to get to know him. Zim never felt so alone before. Escaping this place was not option either, he tried too many times, it never worked. The security was too tight, and his punishment was too painful.
Either he had to get under the shower, because they know he feels pain from water, or makes him eat beans for days on end. When everyone is asleep, Zim is thinking of the most brutal ways to kill Dib for this, his rage increases by the day. Unfortunately, he does have to watch out, even at night. Some children find it funny to grab him and place his green head into the toilet. Disgusted and scared of the pain, he hides from the bullies. Thankfully, Irkens don't need sleep like humans do.
So did Dib.
I woke him up with an airhorn, just to enjoy him fall out of bed, "Rise and shine Membrane, breakfast is ready" Next to me stood Gaz, smiling slightly, "Can you do that every day, its funny"
Dib shook his head violently, "NO!"
"Then get your butt downstairs!"
"In a minute" Curious, I followed Dib towards the kitchen, as he reached for the phone. As expected, he called the orphanage...again. His smile was disturbing, while his little sister stared disgusted at her meal, "His smile makes me sick."
Without thinking, I slammed a buttered piece of toast into Dib's face.
Gaz nodded, "Feeling better now"
"At least one is" I sighted.
Their father had finally showed up for once, wishing us all a good morning. Knowing that he doesn't have much time, I asked him for a five-minute conversation. My expression of worry seen to do the trick, as he nodded in approval, "What is it Y/N?"
"Its Dib. I don't know how to deal with this boy..." I told him about the whole situation, even the part where he broke into Zim's house. Professor Membrane remained silent in the meantime, till I was finished.
"So, he missed this foreign friend of his?"
"No, he sends this poor boy to the orphanage, but calls them, just to make sure he is still there. Is this normal?"
He held my shoulders lightly, "What do you think?"
"I think that this was mean what Dib did. Unlike Dib, Zim has no one."
Professor Membrane got closer to me, sliding with his hands down my shoulders to mine, holding then firm, "That is why I hired you. Your protective and caring nature is a scientific sensation"
"In English please"
He withdraws his hands, "Why don't you adopt this foreign boy? You can teach them to get along"
"Yeah, like they would let me adopt, a young woman that could get children of her own"
"I can put a good word in, that would be no problem"
"This will turn into a bloodshed"
"Humans got enough blood in their bodies, so you got enough opportunities to make this work"
I moaned aloud, "Can't you talk to me like a normal human being?"
"I just did"
"No, you don't"
The five minutes are up, but he didn't seem to be in a hurry. Instead, he looked up on something on his watch, "Say, are you free on Friday night?"
"Of course, the kids will be in bed at that time"
"Splendid, I shall see you on Friday. I pick you up at 7."
I was a little confused at his sudden plan, "Aren't you busy all the time?"
He nodded, "I am, but for my babysitter, I have to make an exception." Without further ado, he left me alone with the children. Everything was back to normal, at least that is how far it could get in the Membrane family.
Or in school.
Ms. Bitters hissed, as I walked into class. Dib went over to his desk, as I noticed the empty one at the door, "Didn't Zim come to school anymore?" the Orphanage isn't too far away, at least he could come to school. But Ms. Bitters shook her head, "They won't let him, as punishment."
"For what?"
"I don't know and I don't care. Now, leave my classroom!"
Back in the car, my body got all heavy. Was I the only one that cared for Zim?
Since my chores are already done in a few hours, I paid his robot dog a visit. Gir sat on the couch, eating waffles. Surprised, I raised a brow, "Did you know you left the door open?"
Curious, it looked in my direction, "ah yeahhhh"
No, it didn't.
"Gir, would you like to join me on a ride?"
The robot got all excited, "YAY ride YAY ride...where?"
"We will visit Zim...you know...your owner."
"YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Can I use your phone for a minute?"
Gir nodded before running towards my car. Not to go there without notice, I called the Orphanage. But the minute I mentioned the green boy, the woman on the other line barked at me, "He is still here for crying out loud!"
"I know...that is why I am calling. I would like to meet him in person."
"We don't have time for games here!"
"I was thinking of ehm...maybe...adopt him"
Suddenly, I heard a loud bang, "No problem Miss, when would you like to see him?"
Wow, her mood drastically changed to the better, "Today, is that okay?"
"Of course, right away?"
"Ehm..."
"Good! Later!...CLICK!"
"...welcome...AH, Gir! Stop the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I wasn't aware until now, that this robot was driving the car around, talking all sorts of animals, garden figures and even a child with him.
"Gir, out now!"
"Hello Miss Dib's babysitter!"
"Hello Keeth, shouldn't you be in school?"
He nodded happy, "I was, until he drove me here"
Ok, first get that kid back to school and then, of to the orphanage. Oh, and it would be wiser to tie up this robot. He caused enough trouble today...and that was only ten minutes mind.
