The security was quick to divert us towards the giraffes and away from the crowd.Get used to it, Toby. You chose this. My brain reminds me.
The love I have for Seonghwa is way more important than a few pictures, but I definitely would never want to be famous. Not if it comes at the expense of my freedom.
But it's okay, no one will recognize me in Michigan.
And I need to stop worrying about it, I'm here with Seonghwa, my tall, handsome, caring, loving, sexy boyfriend and I love him so much.
"Do you want to feed them?" The employee asks us as we watch the giraffes walk around their exhibit.
We all say yes and are given handfuls of flowers and tree leaves. We watch as the giraffes slowly make their way towards us. We hear the employees taking our pictures, which I'm actually okay with. I want this moment to be captured. My smile grows as a giraffe leans down and gently eats all of the food in my hands in just one bite. Seonghwa and I both laugh at the interaction. The giraffe then leans over and eats out of Seonghwas hand.
"It tickles." He comments. We're told we can pet the giraffes so I stand on my tip toes and stroke the giraffes nose. I can feel Seonghwa's eyes on me, his gaze making me feel even hotter than before with the summer heat.
We collectively thank the employees before we are guided towards more animals.
"Oh, Toby, there's elephants up here!" Kay points to our left.
Everything in me grows super excited super fast. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning.
"Do you like elephants?" Seonghwa asks, noticing that I'm walking a little faster.
"Oh, I love them. Since I was a little girl, I've been absolutely obsessed with elephants. I had elephant plush toys, elephant posters, elephant clothes. I mean, I was convinced when I was 4 or 5 that I could be an elephant when I grew up." Seonghwa laughs at my response. I could tell he found it cute.
"I'm glad you didn't turn into an elephant, because I couldn't fall in love with an elephant the way I fell in love with you." His words make me stop walking. I'm not sure why I stopped, but the way he talks has such an impact on me. It's nothing like anything I've ever felt before.
Seonghwa stops walking too and looks at me as if he's asking me what's wrong. As soon as he gets close enough, I lean up and press my lips against his. I just needed to feel his kiss right now. Seonghwa presses harder against my mouth, slightly turning me on.
It's not until I hear a camera clicking before I pull away. I see three people from the other side of a fence a few yards away zooming in on us with their professional cameras. Seonghwa turns around and sees it too before quickly pulling me back towards our group.
"Yeah, I'm so sorry about that Toby." We slow down, putting some distance between us and the others we came with. "It won't be as annoying after a few more trips in public. I know it makes you uncomfortable and if I could, I'd tell them all to go home."
"I know, I know. I'm just not used to it yet." I bite my lip, looking down at our feet.
"Let's get your mind off of that." Seonghwa and I catch up with our friends and look over a short fence to see two African elephants standing a few feet away from us.
I could cry right now.
Am I crying? I cover my nose and mouth with my hands and feel a tear escape my eye. They just look so magestic, so beautiful. Unreal, almost.
"Have you ever seen a real life elephant before today?" Seonghwa asks, wrapping an arm around my waist in reassurance.
"Nope." I admit, unable to take my eyes off of the large mammal standing before me.
