As the sun completely set, the bonfire lit up our small area of the beach. The night winds made it a bit colder but we all still enjoyed the outside.
"Put your settings to night mode so the pictures come out clearer!" Julie pointed to Mingi's phone screen, demonstrating what she was saying.
"Ah!" Mingi got excited as he took another picture of Wooyoung and San.
The rest of the group was having a photo shoot on the beach while Seonghwa and I cuddled by the bonfire. I sat in between his legs as his arms wrapped loosely around my front. My head rested on his chest while his chin rested on the top of my head.
"You know," Seonghwa brushed some of my hair away from my face, "even if you don't decide to come with me after this week, you should know one thing. This week has been unbelievably amazing. I have a hard time thinking about spending time without you, even when I'm asleep I miss you. But I respect whatever decision you make. Your happiness is just as important to me as your presence is."
I sat up and turned my torso so I could face him, cupping his cheek with my hand. "Seonghwa..." I pout, completely at a loss for words. He laughs a little and looks away from me, biting his bottom lip. "It really would suck quitting my job, you know." I joked, catching his attention.
"I know, you don't have to do anything like that. You can just enjoy your vacation and we can see each other again in two weeks." He looks back up at me and offers me his best fake smile. I can tell he's disappointed, I mean, I am too. If this was a perfect world, I'd get up and leave with him instantly. But it's not, and this complicated situation between us isn't getting any easier as the days pass. Our week is almost over, the best week of both of our lives is almost done. I'm choosing not to think about that right now, though. Instead, I move so my entire body is facing Seonghwa. My legs underneath me as I push his hair back with both of my hands, leaning in to kiss him.
I can tell I caught him off guard. But with all the lip biting and his eyes doing the thing that makes him look kinda angry, I couldn't resist. He grabs my hips and presses his fingertips into my skin a little bit, the subtle touch sent chills down my spine. I pull away before things go any further, given that our friends were only a few feet away from us.
"That...was hot." He laughed as he opened his eyes again. "You actually almost gave me a hard on." He admits, the brutal honesty caused me to gasp, then laugh nervously in hopes that no one heard him.
"Be quiet!" I shoved him playfully, standing up before he can do anything in return. "Let's go visit our friends." I hold my hand out for him, doing my best to pull him up. He's way too tall and strong for me to succeed, but he got up on his own and we both walked over to the group circle of our friends.
"Hey." I greet them.
"Hi, love birds. We were talking about pulling an all nighter. Like we did back in middle school days." Kay pokes Julie and they both laugh. Those two have been life long best friends, I joined them when I was hired at my job and we've been inseparable since.
"All night? I don't know if I could stay awake that long." I admit honestly, looking around at everyone.
"Sure you can, it'll be fun." San nudges me gently, his dimpled smile glowing under the moonlight.
"I don't know..." I bite my lip, staring down at my feet. "Fine, let's see how it goes." I give in, knowing I really didn't have a choice if I was going to be the only wimp of the night.
"So what exactly are we doing all night?" Julie asked, moving her blonde hair away from her face while Mingi stared her in awe.
"You guys just can't go with the flow, can you?" Kay signed dramatically and threw her head back in disappointment. "How about, we all get in the water?" She pointed to the ocean next to us.
