Present day

"Please wake up Clay,"

"Please,"

"It's been over a month,"

"I'm not sure how much longer I can do this without you."

"Please Clay,"

"They told me they saw your hand move baby,"

"Please Clay,"

"I'm begging you,"

"Philza said you could hear me"

"At first I didn't believe it,"

"But now I'm not so sure,"

"Your soul was destined to meet mine,"

"Me finding you was the luckiest thing to ever happen on this planet,"

"So there is no way you can't hear me,"

"Please,"

George sat alone in his bed. In silence.

Not the good kind of silence. The bad kind.
The bad kind that makes you completely lost in thought unable to listening to anything but your own fucked up self.

He was feeling so upset. But that was better than what he had been feeling before. It was amazing compared to the numbness he felt before.

He had called Sapnap earlier. Sapnap told him that he finally asked Karl out.

Karl used to joke that he was the reason him and Clay got together.

And now George was the reason Karl and sapnap got together. George was the reason they met at Clays birthday party all those months ago.

That felt like forever ago. It felt like it had been years since he saw his boyfriends face light up at the thought of everyone celebrating him and only him.

Seeing Clays face light up was the most amazing sight he had ever seen.

It was like a small child opening up a brand new present on Christmas.

Oh what George would do to see that smile again.

He give anything to see him smile one more time. He would do anything to hear his laugh or to have him hold his hand.

He would give up his life to see Clay one last time. But that isn't how it worked. If that was how it worked it would have been him in that accident not Clay. George would gladly take his place any day.

But that just isn't how it works.

Ring Ring Ring

George opened his eyes.

Ring Ring Ring

'Probably just Sapnap' George thought, but alas he checked the number calling him.

George's eyes widened in shock. It was the hospital.

George would either get the most horrible news ever, or the most amazing news ever.

The anticipation was killing him on the inside

Ring Ring Ring

George finally answer the phone, voice shaking, "H-hello?"

————————————————————————

George arrived at the hospital. Heart thumping harder than his heart had ever thumped. He was worried if it went any harder it would burst through his chest.

He pushed open the front door and sprinted to the stairs. In the moment he had no time for elevators.

He ran up the stairs skipping a step while he went.

He pushed though the door and booked it down the hallway. Making one final turn he arrived at Clays door.

There's no way this was happening. No possible way this is what was happening to him right now. George couldn't even comprehend it. He could even comprehend what the women on the phone said.

He hung up before she could even finish the sentence. George ran out of the house so fast he didn't even bother wearing a coat.

And of coarse it was storming in Florida that day. Today was just an unlucky day for George.

"George,"

George turned towards the sound.

"Niki?"

It was clear she could see the hesitation in George's stance. She paused and for the first time ever, uncertainty laced her face.

Finally she spoke.

"Go in." She stated simply.

George didn't bother to answer. He just turned back to the door and stared at it a moment. Unsure if he was ready to see the inevitable.

"George," he heard from behind him.

He looked at the handle for a split second before deciding, now or never.

He pushed it open.

Inside was what he thought he would never ever see in a million years.

Inside sat Clay in his bed, lying completely still arms laying over his lap, hair messed up on his head, eyes opened.

George froze when he made eye contact with the man.

It was like he was seeing him for the first time ever. And he simply couldn't move. He was frozen. He wanted to run up to him. He wanted to hug him he wanted to kiss him and yet his body stayed frozen.

"George?"

That voice. That voice he has been waiting to hear again for a whole month.

George felt like he wouldn't be able to speak or move even if someone payed him to do it.

He shook slightly and tears began to form in his eyes.

"You came back," he whispered almost so quiet you couldn't even hear.

"I promised I would," he said back.

He stayed frozen once more, Clay didn't say a thing. It was almost like he was looking at a stranger.

Until he noticed a tear role down Clays cheek. And that was the triggered. That sight pulled George out of the funk he had been in for five weeks. Those four words grasped into him like a hand and yanked him back into reality.

He ran to Clays arms and jumped on him. Clay grasped him so tight that he almost squashed the small male. George broke down crying and sobbing into Clays shirt.

"I missed y-you so fucking m-much," George sobbed, his throat hoarse from crying so hard.

"I thought you'd n-never come back, they said you were gone they said this would never happen, that you w-wouldn't wake up-"

"Shhh baby, it's ok I'm here now. I'm here. I'm never leaving you ever again," Clay was crying too but he managed to pull George's face from his shirt and kiss him passionately.

It felt like there first kiss. It felt like home.

Clay was finally home. And he was never going to leave him again.
